I've been a flag waver for Keegan but must admit I'm coming around to the notion of a more low key appointment the more I think about it. On reflection, I think you're right - the last thing we probably need this season is a media circus that comes with a 'headline grabbing' appointment. As you say, there's enough 'big club' pressure affecting us already. Therefore...welcome Mr Adkins. (assuming it's him of course!)

The key times appear to be "last night" and "09:30 this morning"....

You could always ask a general question about the running of the hotel that his daughter would know about (e.g. what did the manager have for breakfast? Or What teabags did Jill on reception always have at break times - herbal or chinese leaf?) but wouldn't give her identity away.... :-) But there again, how would we know for sure that you worked there too...? All a bit complicated this ITK business.... :-)

My theory is that the longer it goes unannounced (within reason) the 'better' the outcome is likely to be as it implies there are more complications that need tieing up and I would associate 'complications' with bigger names rather than run-of-the-mill names. Just my humble opinion of course.

How about Ryan Giggs? Being lined up as longer term Wales manager. Has already got some coaching badges and an aspirational third tier club would be an ideal place to hone his coaching skills. Best of both worlds: a big name in the game but not a 'big head' manager (yet) so would fit into Cortese's 'all for one, one for all' management structure. Oh, and he could also put on a Saints shirt for the rest of the season... Several birds killed with one stone there. I like your thinking Lord Trousers.

Just to clarify via anyone who knows Nick... When there's a 'breaking news' story about SFC and the media want a view from an SFC fan what actually happens? Do Sky, BBC, etc, either: (a) wait for a fan to contact them saying: "Hi, I'm a fan of SFC. Would you like to interview me?" Or (b) look up on their list of "official fan spokesmen" for the SFC 'rep' and find Nick's name and contact details If it's (b), does Nick (on picking up the phone) say: "yeah, no probs, fire away" or does he say: "are you sure you want to speak to me again? I've heard quite a few fans would rather someone else represents their views every now and then. It's not right that one man should do this media role for so long. Here's a list of other fans you may want to contact so that you get a broader set of opinions each time" Anyone know how it plays out? Just curious. Edit: I'm thinking this is probably the root cause of the vitriol you see on here at times regarding Nick. In that he possibly never questions the media as to their use of him and him alone as 'fan spokesman'. Just a thought.
