  1. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1089089/Where-theres-Will-theres-way-Scots-Team-GB.html "Rugby World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Woodward wants to return to football after the London 2012 Olympics, despite enduring a troubled year with Southampton. Woodward said yesterday he would prefer a management job in football rather than rugby after his director of elite performance contract with the British Olympic Association ends. He said: 'Contrary to what's been said, I really enjoyed my time at Southampton and learned a lot. But I need to be the manager and I think I will have some offers from the lower divisions. If not, I will take a rugby job.' He added that advice from League Managers Association chairman Howard Wilkinson on setting up a World Cup squad had been instrumental in planning his 2003 triumph with England."

  3. +1.0
  4. Football is just a game
  5. Devil's advocate alert.... If his agent is in the dark then perhaps his agent isn't doing his job properly? Much as most of us dislike the activities of certain agents, isn't it an agent's job to be shop windowing their clients around likely candidates...Spurs being a prime one? Just a thought (and no doubt a bad one at that !)
  6. Interesting to see people quoting the name of someone at Barclays in Reading.....
  7. I read in the paper earlier this week that Theo's recurring shoulder injury could be an hereditary condition. Perhaps this shines a new light on why he left SFC 'prematurely'? Perhaps Theo and his Dad alerted the club to the condition who then concocted an early exit plan to get the club as much money as possible before the hereditary nature of the condition became public...? That's gotta be worth an 8 on the conspiracy-ometer, surely?
  8. I'm not sure if they're late from a statutory point of view but they are "late" based on the trading statement released on 24th July 2008: "the preliminary announcement of the years results to 30 June 2008 not due for 10 to 12 weeks"
  9. Nice Which cubicle by the way?!
  10. Sounds like you'd enjoy 'Coast' at Boomerang's in Hamble tonight then....no shallow minded trend setters in sight....just decent honest rock music ice-cream with a Celtic flake popped in the top for good measure....
  11. Hi. Am interested in what your 'quality' benchmark is? Music genres? Actual professional quality of the 'sound'? I believe there is 'quality' out there but (puts on Dad's pipe and slippers) in today's "local band scene" I find that unless you sound like all the millions of other guitar based groups out there or (for the ladies) you are a Lilly Allen/Duffy/Winehouse clone then you don't 'fit in' in. Anyway, back to Radio 2 I go.... ;-)
  12. I assumed UP was referring to 'listed' PLCs in his original post. But there again, I am one of the dumb ones on here so no surprises there....

  14. Who pays for the FA?
  15. Are the FA not duty bound to state why the appeal was rejected? Given it didn't look like a red card incident I'm struggling to understand what logical thought process they would have gone through in the absence of any explanation accompanying the verdict. Unless the FA are an unaccountable quango perhaps? I don't know.
  16. Until the office junior in the PR department that uses the 'Sundance Beast' user id moves back onto photocopying duties?
  17. Master Bates is Rupert Lowe. Keep up
  18. Perhaps they should be pretty.....like watching Saints....? ;)
  19. Via Germany to watch England on Wednesday one assumes?* *Trousers in taking-the-bait shocker
  20. Couldn't see an existing thread about local bands & gigs so apologies if this is in the wrong place..... I'm into a new Southampton based band called 'COAST' - they're music is badged 'Celtic Rock' which sounds a bit narrow taste but they have influences from wider afield than that and are superb live. I went to see them perform in Bitterne Park on Saturday and will be going to see them at their next gig at a club/bar called Boomerang in Hamble this Thursday evening (20th Nov). Map: http://www.multimap.com/maps/?zoom=16&title=Boomerang%20Restaurant%20%26%20Bar&countryCode=GB&qs=SO314HA If anyone fancy's a cracking night out I can highly recommend it. I'll buy a pint for the first 5 Saints fans to turn up at the bar and ask "Where's Trousers?"....!
  21. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1086379/Soton-1-Wolves-2-Iwelumo-nets-insists-wont-mess-Scots.html Iwelumo was full of praise for Saints, who have lost too many experienced players because of their financial crisis but are being expertly coached by Jan Poortvliet. Iwelumo said: ‘Saints are a fantastic side for a team with an average age of about 19. They are one of the best footballing sides I have come across in a long time. ‘They made it hard for us even with 10 men, they found space and were comfortable on the ball. At times they were fantastic to watch so it was a great result for us. I’m sure they will get out of trouble.’ Southampton don’t believe they are in for a relegation struggle and their delightful style of passing belies their lowly situation. They hit back through Alex Pearce’s headed goal and, despite Jason Euell being sent off for a challenge with Richard Stearman which could have resulted in red cards for both of them, were unlucky not to earn a point. Central defender Pearce, on loan from Reading, said: ‘We showed what we are capable of, especially in the second half with only 10 men.’ Next up is a trip to Reading, yet coach Poortvliet insists: ‘The boys never know when they are beaten. We are capable of beating anyone in this league — why not Reading?’
  22. Mike Wilde agrees with that last one....he's got a piece in tomorrow's matchday programme about "the club's ambitions to return to the Premier League"....
  23. Thanks. The deed is done.
  24. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10905 Schneiderlin: "I will speak with the gaffer and the physio before Saturday and hopefully I will play" Since when does a Frenchman who couldn't speak a word of English 3 months ago start using words like "gaffer" in interviews? Unless of course these articles are ghost written by someone else on behalf of the players.....hmmmm....
