  1. Season ticket holders in cutting off nose to spite face shocker! As Mr Luker says, winning games will naturally boost attendances (due to the increase in quality of the commodity on offer) but, paradoxically of course, a good crowd boosts the chances of starting a run of winning games in the first place. So, a few "one off" discounts to get a better match between "quality" and "price" is sensible economics. Season ticket holders shouldn't go into a season with "it's only about the value I get" blinkers on. They are effectively buying shares in the club and, as we all know, the price (value) of shares can go up and down depending on the fortunes of the company being invested in. Season ticket holders 'moaning' about non-season ticket holders getting 'perks' is missing the simple economics of the situation. IMHO of course
  2. 5....4.....3.....2.....1.....
  3. It suggests there is a clause in his contract that says something along the lines of: "I can leave on a free transfer if I'm not in the match day squad but will only receive a pay bonus if I get on the pitch"
  4. Correct. That's logic for you. As with any commodity, the better the quality of the product the more people are prepared to pay for it, and more often. A simple economic principle.
  5. It's sometimes ironic too....
  6. It's not just "24 quid" of course. A round trip for me and my boy sets me back nearly £100. A trip to see a film at my local cinema sets us back around half that. Three words: Value, For, Money

    Chances ?

Nice post. Couldn't agree more. No doubt it has been quantified elsewhere before but what will the annual financial loss be (in terms of profit, not revenue) to the club if we are 3,000 short of Sundance's 18,000 "break even" threshold? If (plucks figure from the air) the average clear profit made per attendee is £10, then we're looking at c.£1.5million. If that figure is anywhere close to being accurate then to say that we would have to lose "some" of the keystones of our foundation in January is arguably a slight exaggeration as we could probably cover that "loss" with the sale of just "one" player not "some". Anyway, agree with the sentiments. Cheers
  8. Is this him on the right? Or this chap?
  9. Just don't tell the Football League that you're sticking their copyrighted data on your bog wall otherwise they'll be around there with a large dog and a stick before you can say: "Copyrighting a series of dates? That's Labour's Britain for you."
  10. Forsooth, I can confirm that is true.....however....are you being polite in a corroborative fashion? :bear:
  11. I don't doubt Wild-Saint's credibility but how can you be so sure?
  12. GOT IT! :smt041 "In The Know" (ITK) So...Mr Roman.....are you corroborating what Wild-Saint is saying or politely mocking him?
  13. Who's Andrew?
  14. Out of idle curiosity, has anyone ever got one of these team line-up prediction do-dahs correct? (having never been to a game, I wouldn't know of course)
  15. Bit of both really. All football fans are as fickle as each other (myself include....although I'm not a 'real' fan of course). So, technically, yes....we have the most fickle fans in football but we are tied joint top with fans from all other clubs.
  16. I was being slightly tongue-in-check TBH
  17. What a carry on

  22. He's having his 6 monthly jabs. Mary is quite fastidious about it. I told her Wales was a long way to go to get your cat inocculated but she was adamant. IMHO of course first one to do an Adam Ant play on words gets 5 bonus points
