  1. It's the opposite IMO. The 'clever Ankersen' option would've been to give the Danish fella a long term contract. But giving someone a 6 month contract and reassessing the situation in the summer is the most logical and pragmatic approach, which is most unlike Ankersen in my view!
  2. I'm surprised not to see a 'George' clue anywhere on the thread given Juric is the Slavic derivation of the name. Missed opportunity there I reckon
  3. Seems likely, on the surface....
  4. This☝️ A caretaker manager was always going to be the most pragmatic approach and I'm glad they've heeded my advice (ha ha ha). As you say, we're as good as down anyway, so it ultimately didn't matter who the caretaker manager was, as the primary aim for the remainder of the season has to be to flush the Martin mentality (aka "scar tissue") out of the players before the next campaign. And if this Juric fella is a bit of a hard taskmaster, then it's a win-win situation IMHO, as at least he'll get them fitter if all else fails.
  5. Yeah, most unlike a club plant to slip in a massive clue 24 hours before something happens...
  6. ☝️ Yep... a Russ team would dish up Sunday lunch but then put one of the plates down on the floor for the dog to eat, whereas last night, some food on one of the plates inadvertantly slipped off whilst taking it from the kitchen to the dining room. Other dubious anaolgies are available
  7. All of which, alas, makes it inevitable they'll go for the Danish fella....
  8. There's every chance that could be down to the person being naff rather than the underlying concept being naff... #MLG_MODE
  9. (humble apologies for any offence caused... couldn't resist )
  10. Best get the players in for training on Saturday, just in case...
  11. She died in 2019, so difficult to tell....

  14. Yep, because governments have always been marvellous at running such organisations themselves.... #lightsbluetouchpaper #retreats5yards
  15. Agree in principle and, yes, I know I'm sounding like a scratched record, but I'd venture that we don't have the requisite fitness levels to maintain that kind of intensity for a full game. The decision therefore I guess is whether we should go hell for leather in the first half, and then consolidate any advantage in the second half, or do like we did last night: containment for 45 minutes then let them loose after the break.
  16. I thought making up stuff was mandatory on the Saintsweb forum... Just keep that "told you so" card in your handbag a wee while longer.... 🙂
  17. Yes, I know, but I would venture Liverpool could put that team out week in week out and still beat most teams out of the top 6 on a regular basis... I think that tells you more about them than us IMHO
  18. I doubt we'd have been able to maintain that intensity for a full game. Probably the right tactics in retrospect.... Try and contain them in the first half (which we weren't a million miles away from achieving) and then go for it in the second half.
  19. That we're not good enough to win the title..? #insightful
  20. Caption competition....
  21. Yep, agree, was particularly refreshing to see Sulemana given the freedom to take on players at long last. With a dash more confidence he could potentially "do a Mané" and turn an indifferent start at the club into something more rewarding....
  22. That may be so but, regardless, do you think our players could be fitter than they are or do you think they are already at the peak of their fitness potential?
