He'd have felt at home on Saintsweb then...

Anyone else getting Stu Armstrong vibes with the Downes situation? i.e. seemingly never fully recovered from an illness and was never really the same player again? (Covid in Stu's case)

It's almost as if the significance of symbolic entities evolve over time rather than staying rigidly fixed to their original meaning... Unless we're all agreed on using the original definition of 'Boxing Day' of course...

Yep, same here. Didn't occur to me at the time to question his whereabouts when the matchday squad was announced on Sunday, but he's just the sort of tenacious 'have a go' type midfielder we were missing versus PCFC, IMO. Defo think he should get more of a look in, but I guess Azaz has knocked him down the pecking order somewhat.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

This one, I assume.... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15104797/Migrant-disability-benefits-housed-retirement-home-human-rights.html -
The only trouble with that is, it would mean promotion and having to suffer another inadequate premier league recruitment window... Need to factor some defeats into the equation so that we just miss out on promotion and thus avoid such frustrations...

You sure they weren't flashing up the average IQ of the away end?

It was only 39 weeks ago to be fair... i.e. much less time than the incumbent government still blames the inheritance from the previous government....

House! P.s. welcome back to the forum Russ... It's been a while.... (Can't think why... )

That may well be true, but for none of our other players to be on the receiving end of a foul more than twice in the whole game smacks of a team that's far too passive to me (and it's not as if PCFC were reluctant to put in a strong tackle, it's more that they didn't need to very often...) That said, maybe that low level of fouls isn't abnormal and I'm making a mountain out of a molehill...?

Take your pick from our strikers for this one....

Unless I'm misremembering, I seem to recall seeing a stat recently which showed we currently / historically create more chances than a lot of teams, which would tend to suggest our problem is more to do with chance conversation rather than chance creation...? Perhaps someone with their finger on the stats pulse could confirm or refute this.

This stat surprised me: "Scienza was fouled three times during his cameo against Pompey, more than any other Saints player, despite coming on with eight minutes to go." Doesn't that underline how passive our tactics and/or players were? We should have been drawing fouls all over the pitch but only a newbie during an 8 minute cameo was able to achieve that. Still needs to put a rocket up their collective arses, but does he have the managerial acumen to do so? Time will tell... https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25467189.southamptons-still-delivers-early-verdict-scienza/

Yup... How many windows is it now that Sport Republic haven't signed a decent / reliable centre forward in the mould of Lambert, Pelle, Ings...? Every single window it gets pointed out and yet they still don't learn... #buffoons

He didn't get booked for that incident, it was for losing his rag over the Jander non-foul

A manager that seems well suited to the club he manages... #portsmyths

Yep, some decent punches today 👍🏻
