Agreed, I've said this for yonks... we're 'too nice' a lot of the time. The usual counter-argument from people that disagree is that "it doesn't affect the ref's decision making", but I'm yet to be convinced that it doesn't have a subconscious effect, especially in 50/50 scenarios as you say.

An unsurprising result, regardless of the starting line up. Lots of factors need to coalesce for us to beat the likes of Man City. 9 times out of 10 that won't happen. Today was one of those days. Indeed. If we'd lost to Man City, Man Utd, Spurs and West Ham and got 6 - 9 points from our last 3 games vs Villa, Newcastle and Watford then I doubt certain people would be as doomladen as they are today. (Yes, of course, there's a chance that these last 3 defeats could be the start of a dreadful run of form, which would be cause for concern, but we don't know that yet...)
