I've worked in IT for almost 40 years... I still remember the days where IT departments (Post Office excepted!) took pride in deploying software that had been tested to death so that they worked smoothly and effectively, both from a functional and performance perspective. These days, any old rubbish software and/or systems seems to be the norm. "When I were t' lad...."

I was commenting on attributes, not what level those attributes are currently at. For example, Downes appears to have a natural instinct to drive forwards with the ball whereas JWP is more of a distributor of the ball. Different attributes (that may or may not be as effective at a higher level of course).

Agree it's unlikely that he'll be "sacked" but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could leave "by mutual consent" if an approach came in for him, regardless of any glowing words from the board.

I'm not going to get into the "who's better?" debate but he definitely has attributes that JWP lacked, IMO.

This. Surely there's no compulsion for a team to wear their away kit in any games, let alone this one, if there isn't a colour clash?

Strange decision, especially when the postal service is so unreliable at the moment (we're lucky to get two deliveries a week here in deepest darkest Devon...)
