"If I could choose then of course I would like to stay here," Alderweireld told @solentsport: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31873471 …
Koeman was asked: "Is it unlikely that Jay will return to training this season?"
To which Koeman replied: "It is not unlikely"
Not sure why he wouldn't have simply answered "Yes (it's unlikely)" to the question if Jrod was unlikely to return. As you say, might just be lost in translation.
The club certainly chose not to re-word it when they clarified it on twitter, which you would have thought they'd do if the literal interpretation was wrong...
@SouthamptonFC
Koeman says "it is not unlikely" that @JayRodriguez9 will return to training with #SaintsFC before the season is out.
@danbsfc
@SouthamptonFC @JayRodriguez9 Double negative. Does that mean he will return to training soon then?
@SouthamptonFC
@danbsfc He was asked whether it was unlikely that Jay would return this season. #saintsfc
Our defence has still been pretty solid in his absence, so he'd have had to contributed in the goal scoring department for us to be higher. Or maybe the suggestion is that he would have contributed to the overall confidence of the team, which is plausible I guess.
I understand why people often say this, but I don't see why its any more or less likely that we'll get "this close" again next season. Yes, the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs are unlikely to have a repeat of the teething problems they had in the first half of this season but there's no reason why we won't iron out our own wrinkles too.
