Our keepers must have been doing something right in 2014/15! Only 33 goals conceded in 38 Premier League games. Saints were 2nd in defensive record behind Chelsea who conceded only one less at 32 goals. You dismissing that as... they had Alderweireld, Fonte, Schneiderlin and Wanyama in front of them still wouldn't see an awful keeper have the 2nd best record in the league! Our defence wasn't impregnable that season to the extent the keeper didn't need to do anything, Fraser Forster did a lot better than 'awful'! Same the following season for our keepers in 2015/16... only 41 goals conceded in 38 PL games. Sure a very good defensive unit in front helps. But an 'awful' keeper behind a very good defence still concedes a lot of goals.

If David Blaine can confuse people in the 21st century, imagine what sleight of hand would do to bronze age farmers...

It isn't remotely similar. The quality level of the youngsters they are signing is light years ahead of the 2008/09 season.

Broja and Livramento weren't just promise, they were already good enough. Perhaps the club think Lavia, Bazunu and Bella-Kotchap are aswell.
