  1. Your figure is far too low and also doesn't take into account undisclosed transfers. You state 900k for the 23 league clubs. Norwich spent around that themselves. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfers/5494052/Transfers-League-One-summer-2009.html
  2. That figure is very very very wrong!
  3. And is still very possible for the 4th round with this draw or Rotherham or Luton at home.
  4. All of that was before the takeover so irrelevant as that money was used to pay creditors.
  5. More than £1.5m Lambert fee is rising to £1.5m, Hammond £400k, Papa Waigo would have included a big loan fee as it is with a view to buy, free transfers such as Jaidi, Murty, Harding etc would have required big signing on fees and also tying Davis to a new deal. So easily over £2m
  6. It is a great draw, few others would have given us such a good chance to get into round 4. A good draw is home or away to one of the big Prem sides or at home to a very small lower league side. A bad draw is away to a Championship or League One side. You should be happy
  7. See what happens in January and the summer before you get too excited, I am hopeful though
  8. Those complaining seem to be ignoring it is one of the easiest ties we could have got - a home draw against 2 lower league sides. Thus a great chance of getting to round 4 of the FA Cup.
  9. Obviously this is different in the Northam Stand where you all stand for the whole game and have a terrible view from behind the goal and seem to spend most of the time taunting the away fans rather than watching the game. I go to football to sit on the halfway line, have a good view and watch the game. I have food after the game and the evening drinking in the pub. No need to mix the 3 up. Watch football for 90 minutes, have proper food, drink in a pub...simple - you do each where they are best done not mix them up together and dilute them.
  10. Most games as half time and full time approaches I'm constantly standing up and sitting down to allow people to get past to get to the concourses. Then you get those infront walking past obstructing the view of the pitch. Or those that leave early but then Saints score and they come flooding back in the ground and stand in the way of those that stayed to watch. You pay to watch a game of football, not stand in a line whilst the game is still on or on the street walking home. If they didn't obstruct other peoples enjoyment of the game I wouldn't have a problem. But the point is they do!
  11. Southampton have been linked to him in the press a week ago. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/football-rumours-gossip/2009/11/20/elliott-ward-being-tracked-by-three-clubs-92746-25212872/
  12. Its exactly because of that, its League One so its hidden to them. Most ITV journalists are ignorant of most Premiership sides so when they give reporting on the 3rd tier ago it will be even worse.
  13. Which is worse... Andy Townsend and his tactic truck? or Lizzie (Blue Peter wannabe) Greenwood-Hughes and her pointless Football League E-mails?
  14. Maybe ITV will feel sorry for poor us and give us some TV money in the 3rd round.
  15. If you were a true traditionalist you'd want every kit to look like the 1885 kit. Why don't you follow through your own logic? You have beaten yourself in this discussion
  16. Unlikely as we are not in the Premeirship and ITV have the FA cup rights
  17. This badge uses the original 1885 badge in the shield and also is recognizable to the modern fan as Saints with the scarf, halo and ball. A nice hybrid imo and still recognizable as Southampton. Could use it as a one off season celebration of 125 years.
  18. The current badge has existed for under 40 years and it has changed during those 40 years. For 80 years the club badge was completely different. This is where the traditionalist argument collapses! Surely all "Saint fan traditionalists" should want a badge like the original 1885 badge if they follow through their own logic of no changes to Saints badges.
  19. Read the rest of my point, you are taking one sentence out of context.
  20. Adds alot to the discussion. Mature aswell. Even if you disagree which of course you are fully entitled to do so, you could at least state why...
  21. If you were a Leeds fan what would you be saying? They didn't start wearing a white kit until the 1960's for the previous 80 years it was completely different. What if you were a Saint fan in 1896 - for the first 11 years of Saints they didn't wear red and white stripes. For the first 50 of Southampton they didn't wear black shorts. For the first 90 years of Saints they didn't wear white socks. My idea is only as a one of to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the club and then revert back to red and white stripes in 2011.
  22. With that logic you could say the 1885 kit is red and white stripes, just one thin red one at an angle.
  23. Do you normally miss any of the 1st or 2nd half to get it?
  24. I'm not saying they should be banned from doing it as that would be illegal to imprison them in their seats for 2 hours. However what they are doing isn't logical, a waste of their own money and most importantly is inconsiderate to other supporters who have paid to watch a game of football.
  25. A slight rant which I'm sure will go down on here like marmite What is the point of paying £25 for a ticket and then... ...Missing the first 5 minutes of the 1st half getting to your seat because you get delayed by the numbers in the concourses getting a pre match pint? ...Missing the last 10-15 minutes of the first half to get to the front of the line for half time pint and pie? ...Missing the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half getting to your seat because you get delayed by the numbers in the concourses getting a half time pie and pint? ...Missing the last 10 minutes of the game to avoid the crowds at the final whistle? Miss the Papa Waigo equiliser and penalties against Norwich I have never done any of the following but a large number of people do at St Mary's and other grounds. With so many people doing it you are forever standing up to let them leave or they are stood infront of you obstructing the view of the pitch. What is even more annoying is that those that decide to leave start walking out but if anything happens on the pitch whilst they are leaving they stand there and watch despite everyone behind them not being able to see. Will it really harm you to go 2 hours without food and drink? Do you really benefit in leaving 10 minutes before the final whistle? - Anything could happen on the pitch in that time. The delay of waiting until the full-time whistle to get out of the stadium is minimal. You paid £25 to watch the match, you don't pay £25 to stand in a line in the concourses or walk home whilst the match is still on. Will it kill you to have food and a pint before and after the game? Or to sit through the 90 minutes rather than leaving 10 minutes early to save you 5 minutes getting out the ground? In doing both you are spoiling it for the others at the ground because the game is going on and you keep obstructing the view. ...rant over
