On what is that based? Given he is assistant to Guardiola I think it is more likely he'd try to implement a watered down version of Guardiola's style for players at a lower level of ability. Managers tend to appoint assistants who share common philosophies and styles.

Every year every club releases academy products who then goto Football League clubs. It doesn't mean the academy is struggling. The quality bar to break into a Premier League first time is extremely high.

If it is announced in 6 weeks time then I'd agree it is a complete **** up.

Both parties want it to happen, but both parties want the best deal possible for themselves and that isn't done instantaneously. If it is announced last week or this week it makes no difference to pre-season.
