  1. We can't draw them. Saints are seeded, Accrington are non-seeded in the Northern section. Saints can get...
  2. Yes, that is true. But how we did in 1994 for example has no relevance as to how we'll do in 2017.
  3. What would we do if one of the centre backs was injured during the game? Unusual for a team not to have centre back cover as one of the 7 subs, so Bednarek may need to be an option on the bench.
  4. That might have been ok to say from 2012 to 2016. But last season he was at a higher level and improved significantly, he doesn't make as many mistakes any more and looks a lot more composed on the ball. I'd prefer Stephens & van Dijk (or a new CB if he goes), but Yoshida playing isn't the disaster you make out.
  5. Yoshida went off injured vs Sevilla, but was back in training today...
  6. 1) Praying is futile 2) His name is Ward-Prowse, not Ward Prouse 3) He is a very good player and can be used in the 2 or the 3 of a 4-2-3-1
  7. If merely a better chance of Champions League football was their concern then... - Clasie & Pelle would have stayed at Feyenoord - van Dijk, Foster & Wanyama would have stayed at Celtic - Cedric would have stayed at Sporting Lisbon - Mane at Red Bull Salzburg etc etc They didn't stay, because playing in the Premier League & having Premier League wages is a bigger draw for them than Champions League football at a club in a smaller European league.
  8. In the history of world football, what are the precedents for that? It is so rare it isn't really worth considering as an outcome. He isn't going to strike for an entire season, players don't do that.
  9. Does that really make sense to bother doing intentionally by the club? This forum is read by a tiny, tiny, tiny % of the club's fanbase.
  10. That Mirror "journalist" has a horrendous record for click bait articles and copy/pasting & rehashing old stories. It only makes sense to buy or have the option to buy Roberts, Saints since returning to the Premier League haven't spend their time developing under 21s for other clubs. I doubt they are going to start now they are an established top 8 team. Forster left Celtic in 2014 Roberts joined Celtic in 2016 They possibly have never met each other.
  11. I'd like to see Alan Nixon's list of players who have signed a new 4 year contract in July and were sold a month later in August. It won't be a long list with many precedents!
  12. It is a fake account, he is a complete bull****ter. Describes himself as "reputable" in his bio... shouldn't that be for others to decide rather than yourself?
  13. Maxifoot don't claim it is their information. They cite their source as Radio RMC in the article.
  14. Wednesday - weakened side loses 4-0 to Augsburg = Saints forum Meltdown!!!3 days later..Saturday - 1st team beats Sevilla 2-0
  15. Caption competition time!
  16. There are regular updates on the official Twitter and Facebook pages. Including videos of the goals soon after they are scored...
  17. If it happens and anyone thinks saint lard is ITK, this Tweet pre-dated the thread... TEAMtalk‏@TEAMtalkEXCLUSIVE: @SouthamptonFC are set to give Matt Targett a new five-year deal and set to be announced today. #saintsfc
  18. If Champions League football was his key motivation he would have stayed at Celtic rather than joining us. Money is the motivation and Liverpool could offer him huge wages regardless of them being in the group stages or not.
  19. I'm puzzled why people keep suggesting swap deals, they are very rare! Even rarer when it is 4 players in the same deal! (can you name any time that has ever happened?) Plus... Loftus-Cheek is at Crystal Palace...
  20. With only 1 year left on his contract, I doubt anyone would pay that much for him.
  21. Gazzaniga & Stephens count as club grown. No chance Taylor will be missed off the list, they wouldn't have given him a new contract if they didn't intend for him to be 3rd choice keeper for the season.
  22. The game in 3 days vs Sevilla is the tougher match, the starting XI for Swansea may be kept fresh to test themselves vs Sevilla in the last friendly of the summer. It is the Sevilla game when we'll have a better understanding of Pellegrino's plan for Swansea.
  23. That is a little flawed Nick... van Dijk didn't seem to care about us holding onto a player before he signed... Schneiderlin asked to leave in 2014... he didn't leave in 2014 Wanyama asked to leave in 2015.... he didn't leave in 2015 van Dijk joins Saints in 2015 after both Schneiderlin and Wanyama had been forced to stay one more season.
  24. I didn't say it was a full list did I? I certainly wouldn't write off Hojbjerg or Boufal and others yet. I was highlighting the absurdity of him calming van Dijk, Romeu and Cedric to be good signings and then blaming Wilson for the bad.
  25. :mcinnes: Are you aware Wilson was at the club for van Dijk, Cedric and Romeu signing? Plus for example Gabbiadini? I know some of them would have been scouted before Wilson arrived, but he was still involved in the decision making process of which scouted players to sign. Plus, you know Les Reed has had a key role in signings since summer 2010? Cortese hired Reed to advise him on football matters, Cortese wasn't a football man... that is why he hired Reed.
