  1. Michael Eisner has revealed his first plans for the club's future involve a change to the badge...
  2. Why? We beat them at Dean Court quite easily without him under Claude Puel.
  3. Why would we confirm that? It is a derby, just not our main one.
  4. 3 questions... 1) I find it odd the paper still talks about it being "shares" the fans own, they aren't shares in a legal sense are they? More donations with a certificate printed off on a fans trust printer. 2) The article calls him a "billionaire", but is there any evidence he is a billionaire in pounds sterling rather than USD? 3) If the takeover happens, can we then legitimately call them Mickey Mouse club?
  5. If you think he is Championship level, then you are utterly clueless at being able to judge player ability.
  6. Man City are paying the bulk of his wages at Torino and it is not unheard of for clubs to subsidise wages until the end of the original contract in order to sell a player.
  7. I didn't pass comment as to if I thought it was true or not, I merely linked to the story.
  8. Fraser Forster to Everton Joe Hart to Southampton A possibility according to the Daily Mail... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4321844/Southampton-consider-bid-Man-City-s-Joe-Hart.html
  9. Tell him Gabbiadini hasn't played in the English League Cup this season with Italian team Napoli... so isn't cup tied!
  10. He was holding his hamstring as he went off the pitch...
  11. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-01-26/video-shane-long-goal-liverpool-southampton-efl-cup
  12. That is a bizarre way to judge a player, as it removes all context.
  13. My "stats world", has him as the 10th best keeper in the Premier League. Is that unreasonable?
  14. I'd be surprised if... - Jeremy Pied isn't the 2nd choice right back next season. He is back doing ball work at the moment. Plus where are you expecting us to sell Forster? He is on a big wage, under contract until 2021, cost us £10m and his value would now be higher. Which club would need him and would he agree to leave us for? He really isn't remotely as bad as some on this forum make out and I'm happy with him as 1st choice keeper.
  15. The Southern League pre the 1920s appears written off by many, but it was a decent standard compared to the Football League at the time. Southern League teams count as "non league", yet Saints made the final of the FA Cup as a "non league team" in 1900 and 1902.Other Southern League teams also were able to be more than a match for the northern Football League teams in the FA Cup.
  16. Nope, I only quoted one sentence from that post... the one about Les Reed where he was talking about squad depth in general. My point was that Reed talking about Caceres adding to squad depth doesn't mean Caceres i a back-up player, he is adding to numbers of CBs. As I mentioned, I think it is likely with everyone fit, Caceres would only be behind van Dijk in pecking order.
  17. I think you need to re-read my post in the context of what it was replying to and you will see that at no point did I say he should (or shouldn't) start the cup final. You've twisted my post quite badly.
  18. He hasn't joined to play second fiddle to Stephens whilst van Dijk is injured. When all are fully fit the pecking order is most likely going to be... van Dijk Caceres Yoshida Stephens Gardos The way Caceres talks about the final and his expressions in the interview make me think he feels he has a chance of starting. Of course we all know given he hasn't played for a year that is a big risk, but in terms of quality he is some way ahead of Stephens. Impossible to really know what we'll do without seeing him in training, but Puel has over a week of training to decide if he is ready or not.
  19. He sure is! A big clue (apart form the nonsense he writes) is in his twitter bio he describes himself as a "Reputable established football associate". Isn't that for others to decide, rather than using it to describe yourself?
  20. Given 4-2-3-1 worked so well in the last game after a poor run, I think Puel will stick with it. At times when defending it'll look like a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1, with Ward-Prowse, Redmond & Tadic dropping deeper. Forster Cedric Caceres Yoshida Bertrand Romeu Davis Ward-Prowse Tadic Redmond Gabbiadini Subs: Hassen Stephens McQueen Hojbjerg Clasie or Boufal Rodriguez Long I can't see Sims getting a place over a more experienced senior player if they are fit. I know Caceres hasn't played a game for a year, but think he may still start depending on how he looks in training. May seem harsh on Stephens, but Caceres does add significant experience in a potentially vulnerable position.
  21. Nice and simple to this tune. "Gabbia, Gabbia HEY! Gabbia, Gabbia, Gabbia HEY!" (from 1:20) Easy for the Northam Stand to remember.
  22. :mcinnes: No it isn't, not in any way shape of form. You have completely lost the plot if you think Newcastle currently have a better squad than us. They aren't even remotely close. I struggle to see how any of their players would make it into our best XI. I know a lot of Saints fans seem to have it in for Forster, but he isn't remotely as bad as they make out. The last 3 or 4 months has highlighted a large section of this forum who aren't able to judge player quality particularly well and are far too black & white and make rash judgements on one or two incidents and then write a player off. The only current first team player I think is crap is Martina, the rest are all at a good level and we has some very high ability players and many with a lot of potential.
  23. :mcinnes: No they aren't, they have a significantly weaker squad than us for a start.
  24. I can see very little justification selling for most of them.
  25. What evidence do you have for that? There is a significant difference between "an exit strategy" and looking for an investment partner. Liebherr in her statement called it a "potential partnership"... https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-01-26/club-statement-southampton-football-club A partnership is not an exit. Man City sold 13% to the Chinese in 2015, did you call that an "exit strategy"? https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/dec/01/manchester-city-265m-deal-chinese-investment-group
