As I said, how would Saints recoup that £3.5m fee at the moment given he hasn't played much? We'd be better off keeping him and see how he develops in the coming years. He is young at 22 and from what I've seen of him he looks to have potential. I'm certainly not going to write him off (yet). The other players on the list I can understand leaving as they are relics of successive promotions and the club progressed too quickly for them and we need a better quality now. He was even used in the last game, so is still in Pochettino's thoughts.
-
Not really. If Cortese decides to invest £3.5m on a 22 year old international, I think he will give him more than a year to show his worth. Given his lack of game time so far we would struggle to recoup that fee and would be better of keeping him to see how he develops.
-
Because... 1) he is only 22 years old 2) he is the 5th most expensive signing Southampton have ever made 3) he has shown glimpses of potential in the brief cameos he has had I think he'll stay, have a pre-season with Pochettino and we'll see more of him next season along with Vegard Forren.

It was reported at around £3.5m and I agree I can't see him leaving yet. Still only 22 years old and has shown glimpses of potential in his brief cameos.

A lot of those listed aren't in the squad and have been loaned out for most of the season. They don't need to be "replaced" directly. It is basically clearing the deadwood from successive promotions that weren't able to keep up with the progress of the club. It'll likely end up being more than 15 players if you include the development squad players leaving.

I doubt Mayuka will leave this summer.

Vergard Forren; do the club need to explain to the fans
Matthew Le God replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
He is playing for the under 21's this afternoon. -
Take off 1,836 Sheff Utd fans, and there were only 16,597 Pompey fans at their "new dawn" of fans owning the club yesterday. Can't sell out a 21k stadium! Can't use the "Chainrai excuse" anymore, so what is the new excuse? It wasn't just that the fans trust taking over made it a big game, it was also the last home game of the season. On Saints last home game of the 2009/10 season in League One, they had -10 points and couldn't finish higher than 7th - but had a crowd of 25,289 vs Southend for a meaningless game!

Swansea 0-0 SAINTS // Post-Match Reaction
Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
You continue to overlook the large number of teams below us. For Saints to go down those teams from 13th to 18th all need to catch us, and many have games against each other where they will be taking points off each other. For example on the last day of the season Wigan play Villa. They can't both get 3 points from that game. -
I hope this doesn't mean Saints plan to park the bus in front of the goal and be negative this afternoon...
-
I look forward to seeing the accounts for 2013/14.

In the past years of this thread I recall people saying "time to close it its over now". I don't think anyone here thinks this is the end, not by a long stretch. The trust's business plan is shot full of fundamental flaws and over estimations of the fanbse. The inmates are running the asylum! It'll end in tears (and administration number 4 in 2015)

I was wrong, not Swindon. But Huddersfield is right. So list is... Leicester Leeds Saints Sheff Utd Sheff Weds Swansea Huddersfield Norwich City Charlton Athletic Nottingham Forest

Why persist with likes of Fox when we could blood youngsters?

As Steve Grant said, Matt Targett is the next one. -

He called us "stripy feckers", so he had it coming!

You really aren't in a great position to gloat, Saints are midtable in the Premier League, category 1 academy, large modern stadium they are looking to expand and develop, £15m upgrade of the training ground nearly complete. Where as Pompey have crippled themselves for decades to come, will be in the 4th tier next season with a dilapidated stadium, don't own a training ground and a poor category 3 academy. You will be squeezed from the West by Saints and the East by a resurgent Brighton for fans and youth players for many years to come. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/trust-wants-to-buy-by-april-19-1-4992816 Well that doesn't seem to have happened before the end of the working day today. In any case, why would Chainrai have got the gate money from tomorrow's game? Nor have we seen the details of the High Court deal with Chainrai that were promised a week ago by the trust. What has gone wrong with both of those? I thought the trust were bring a new dawn of fan ownership transparency! Do you still trust the trust? Or will it take some more **** ups for the doubts to creep back in?

I'm now thinking of David like this...

Football League, not the Football Association.
-
Sounds like the Football League are going to take the ten points off this season. An email from them today... "A further 10 point deduction is applicable when and if the club exists administration this season as per The League’s condition of membership as previously outlined last July (e.g. regardless of the when club’s League performance in 2012/13). The Football League issued a statement regarding Portsmouth FC in July 2012, which fully outlined the conditions of membership, including a further points deduction if and when the club exists administration during the current season." Not only is -10 points lenient for diluting a failed CVA compared with the -17 points dished out for failing to agree a CVA for Rotherham and Bournemouth, but taking the ten points off now that they have been relegated is completely futile and has no impact on them.
-
I thought in training players were meant to hold back to avoid injuring teammates, it seems our manager is involved in full blooded tackles! You don't get Harry Redknapp or Alex Ferguson doing them.
-
Here you go... I guess you mean Pochettino, but Forren is also in the picture.
