The January 2013 HCDAJFU thread...
Matthew Le God replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
As Nigel Adkins is forever quoting from his book, I'm surprised Saints haven't made a bid for this player... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21014918 -

That is a different "Sebastian Fernandez" Turkish. The video is for a player that plays for Universitario de Deportes in Peru, not the one linked with Saints.

If they have a better goal difference they would be. Not that it matters, they are already as good as down. Effectively they have 11 points, they will need about 50 points to stay up. Roughly that is 2 points per game which is title winning from for their remaining 20 games in order to stay up.

11 points to 25 points = 14 point gap

Ramirez came off with cramp. Not exactly serious.

Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?

BBC Radio Solent are led to understand (I guess from talking to the officials) the penalty was for the foul on Puncheon by Guzan. The referee played advantage to see if Saints would score, the Rodriguez "incident" then happened, Saints hadn't scored so he brought it back for the original foul and gave a penalty. -
Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport So, Nigel Adkins says Luke Shaw's injury looks like tissue damage - cuts & gashes - good early sign for him #saintsfc That won't keep him out for long, if at all.
-
He played very well today.
-
If Lallana wasn't injured, Guly wasn't ill and Mayuka wasn't at the African Cup of Nations - then De Ridder wouldn't be on the bench. De Ridder also isn't as bad as some make out, I still think there is a good player in him struggling to get out. He does have a lot of good attributes, problem is his decision making and final ball aren't great.

Gazzaniga has still travelled with the squad for today's game and will be in the dressing room, we don't just take 18 players to games. [video=youtube;8Ni-XZYkNHE]

He hasn't been injured for a long time, he has been in the training videos for the last 3 games along with Boruc, Davis and Stannard. Boruc and Davis just being picked ahead of him atm.

Deanovski didn't put the source of that quote in his post. It is from a random person on Twitter with no link, so lacks credibility. https://twitter.com/Transfer___ITK/status/289876706095935488 -

Sorry, but that is not evidence that he was "forced upon him". That is very much jumping to conclusions. Mayuka is still young and we have other players playing well in his position, Adkins still puts him on the bench a lot even if he doesn't play.
-
And your evidence for that is...?

Adkins has already said we won't be signing a new keeper, we signed two in the last window. It looks to be Artur Boruc for the rest of the season. Give him a run of games and I think he'll be fine. -
We got Yoshida and a lot of people now appear to be happy with him. Yes, we need another one especially with Fonte out and that appears to be what the club are now looking to do.
-
That fails to take into account a lot of the teams Saints are competing with have had years of Premier League football and Premier League income to build a squad. Saints leaped up two leagues in two years and took the first steps to building a Premier League squad in the summer window. Give us some more transfer windows and the strength and depth of the squad will improve as we bring in better players and get rid of those that haven't been able to keep up with the progress of the club.
-
So where is the problem? If we win at the weekend as you think we will, we'll 2 points above Villa, have a game in hand (admittedly away at Chelsea) and have a vastly superior goal difference. Saints had a poor start whilst they settled into the Premier League and are starting to look solid based on the last 10 games, Villa on the other hand have been getting worse in recent months.
-
What about... 22nd September 2012 - Southampton 4 Aston Villa 1 We played them off the park in the second half.
-
And what do successive promotions merit? Lucky for us you aren't the Saints chairman if you would sack someone for the reason stated.
