  1. Difference is... if Saints were to be sold they would be an attractive investment proposition (modern stadium, large matchgoing fanbase, modern training ground they own, Jackson's farm, one of the best academies in the country and a midtable Premier League quality squad) without being passed from crook to crook for a decade and having to be bailed out by a fans trust and dilution of over £150m of debt.
  2. I wish Coventry all the best, but this will go against the grain somewhat... petitions like the one mentioned in the opening post are ultimately pointless, futile and won't make the slightest bit of difference to the situation. We are so lucky this didn't happen... http://www.standard.co.uk/news/saints-are-the-goal-for-secretive-hedge-fund-6615521.html
  3. We haven't had anything even remotely approaching conclusive evidence yet. A lot of speculation as to what is actually going on.
  4. What do you mean "go for"?
  5. He is a major shareholder at Everton, you don't transfer chairman like you do players or managers.
  6. Each place in the league is worth £800k in prize money, so I doubt we'll be messing around. A huge difference in money for the club as we could finish 10th to 17th (technically 18th but that won't happen). The higher we finish the easier it will be to attract players as well.
  7. Would it? Why? The club's value is likely to grow even further in the coming years.
  8. Wigan are playing Villa on the final day. They are both below Saints at the moment. For them both to overtake Saints it would require Wigan to beat Arsenal and Villa and also for Saints to lose to Stoke by 13 goals so Saints drop below Villa on goal difference. Plus Sunderland and Fulham overtaking Saints. Unless you think Stoke will beat Saints 13 - 0 on Sunday, we are safe.
  9. That isn't correct, mathematically we are not safe. Albeit it is very, very unlikely we will go down as it would require us to lose extremely heavily to Stoke (to put us below Villa) and Wigan, Sunderland and Fulham overtake us.
  10. Technically we could if ALL of these happen... - Wigan beat Arsenal away - Wigan beat Villa home - Sunderland get at least a point away at Tottenham - Fulham get at least a point away at Swansea - Southampton lose to Stoke PLUS Southampton lose a 11 goal advantage in goal difference! Are any of the pessimists still going to maintain we will go down?
  11. Alternatively, if Saints are the ones to score they'd be 1 point behind 10th.
  12. I said no such thing. Mr Wrong.
  13. And if Saints score we'll be 11th.

  15. No, he isn't registered in our 25 man squad of over 21 year olds. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/clubs/profile.squads.html/southampton
  16. Like when you predicted Saints finishing 17th in the Championship, when they actually stayed in the top 2 all season and were automatically promoted?
  17. SaintBobby didn't say he was certain that Arsenal would win. But the vast majority of people looking at that game would come to the conclusion Arsenal are the overriding favourites. A Wigan win although possible (as they showed last season), it is very unlikely. Yet you claim "if we stay on 39 points I am certain we will go down", so by saying that you are saying you are certain Wigan will beat Arsenal.
  18. Even if they did beat Arsenal, that still doesn't mean 39 points wouldn't be enough. Given you can get odds of 10/1 on a Wigan win on Tuesday I'm assuming as you are so convinced they will win you must have put a large bet on this match given your likely huge returns. Haven't you...? If not, why not?
  19. Out of interest Mr Dalek2003.... Should the extremely unlikely happen and 4th place Arsenal beat 18th place Wigan at home on Tuesday and it is shown that 39 points is enough. What will you say or will we never hear from you on the subject again like with your 17th place Championship predictions of 2011/12?

  21. In the same way you stuck with your prediction that it would need 43 points, then 41 points and now 40 points. Or your prediction from last season in the Championship that Saints would finish 17th. I'd quit making predictions if I were you Dalek2003, you aren't very good at them!
