Harlee Dean isn't starting, he has Tweeted that he is on the bench. Plus I did say "similar".

Win the game? Boost confidence?

He signed for Evian yesterday on a 4 year deal. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12040_7137935,00.html End of thread really...

A team similar to that beat Torquay United 4-1 in the first round.

I believe his contract ends on 30th June 2012. His value is dropping the longer he goes without signing a new one. If Palace wait until January 2012 to sell him (if he doesn't look like signing a new deal), it will drop significantly.

He has never played for the Southampton academy. He joined the club when he was 19 years old.

That is a terrible idea. Neither of them are suited for that. A specialist, ball winning, hulk of a centre back is needed, allowing Fonte to cover. If Clyne were to come, it would more likely see Butterfield leaving or further sidelined (perhaps even returning to Palace) and Clyne at right back with Richardson giving him competition and cover.

Nathan is the shortened version of Nathaniel. The question "Is Nathaniel a real name?", is a bit like asking "Is Jonathan a real name?"
-
Do you think his parents consulted him beforehand?

Depends if you consider Gorkss and Le Fondre better than the players they replaced in Mills and Long. They are "beefing up their squad" with Gorkss and Le Fondre because they just lost £12m worth of talent from it.

"Never change a winning team" is a nonsense strategy. Anyone that thinks otherwise, please answer this question...? Fonte and Lallana miss a game due to suspension, Saints used Martin and Holmes as their replacements and they luckily hold onto a 1-0 lead at home against Doncaster Rovers, with Martin and Holmes playing poorly. Next game is against West Ham away, would you seriously stick by the "never change a winning team" philosophy and not play Lallana and Fonte even if they are fully fit and available?

That is quite clearly not the "job spec" of the striker the club want. We only know for certain of one bid the club has made for a striker this summer, and that was when Nigel Adkins confirmed the club had a £3.25m bid accepted by Doncaster for Billy Sharp. All the other strikers are unconfirmed rumours. Saints wouldn't have signed Sharp for £3.25m only for him to be on the bench in the Championship. Therefore the club was and probably still are looking to sign a strike partner for Lambert, not a back-up.

Nigel Adkins has confirmed in interview with BBC Radio Solent and Saints Player that Saints made bids for Billy Sharp and Liam Fontaine this summer.

Absolute nonsense! - Waghorn is a proven scorer in the Championship and is a current England under 21 international. - Bignall has only seen first team action in League One and Two, with 27 league starts (20 sub appearances) and 4 goals in the last 4 seasons.

It is the main story on the Southampton FC website and has been for quite a few hours now... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2433092,00.html

As I said before... If Waghorn does sign, he won't be here as a "bench warmer" or "squad player". You don't spend £1.5m+ on a player as a Championship club only for him not to be in the first XI soon after signing. He wants to leave Leicester in order to get game time and would join Saints as Lambert's strike partner. Connolly and Barnard would be the ones providing cover (and very good cover at that!)

- You should take the game on its own merits. - You say "away to one of the division favourites", but Saints are actually shorter odds to win the Championship than Leicester with every major bookmaker.
-
No, but he did play in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur (albeit very briefly).
-
No they don't. That is complete nonsense.

Who on Twitter said this? Twitter can be useful or completely useless as a source depending on who it is Tweeting the info. If it is just a random bloke, then it means very little.
