Gary Hooper on the other hand is a proven Championship scorer and now is top scorer in an admittedly poor Scottish League but plays is a key player for Celtic. It is no surprise he would command a hefty fee, as would any other player with his background.

You are forgetting Hooper is already proven in the Championship, Rhodes isn't. Hooper aged 21 was the Championship's 3rd top scorer in 2009/10 whilst at a struggling S****horpe side. It was a great season in the Championship that got him his move to Celtic in the first place! Hooper also has goals in Europe against some good sides. That isn't to say Rhodes wouldn't be a good signing.

You can cover most problems easily with 4 outfield subs. One defender, one defensive midfielder, two attack minded players. In the past you had to cope with 0/1/2/3 subs in total let alone 5 or 7!

Give us the position he plays in primarily. You said you didn't want to name him, but stating his position surely doesn't matter, especially if their are other clubs already "sniffing around".
