  1. Puncheon could easily do a great job in the SPL. Most non Old Firm clubs wouldn't look out of place at the bottom of the Championship/top of League One. Jason did okay for a struggling Premier League side, very well in a short spell at Millwall in the Championship and good in the first 5 months at Saints.
  2. Well if you believe the Daily Mail...
  3. It isn't "pure speculation", Neil Lennon confirmed Saints made an enquiry and when questioned about Hooper he didn't rule it out like he has with other names put to him.
  4. How odd!
  5. The £90m often used by the press is the figure if you were to stay in the Premier League for one year and then get 4 years of parachute payments. So the £90m is over 5 years. If you weren't relegated, those same 5 years could see the club earn £200m+ in TV money. None of this takes into account the extra money you could earn through increased sponsorship, advertising, ticket sales, merchandising etc etc whilst in the top flight.
  6. From May 2010, Celtic linked with Jason Puncheon... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1274132/Celtic-target-Southampton-duo-Jason-Puncheon-Rickie-Lambert.html
  7. Cork joined over a month before Chamberlain left. Are you suggesting the transfer budget this season if Chamberlain hadn't left would have been £0? What evidence has made you come to that conclusion?
  8. De Ridder and Cork were signed before Chamberlain left.
  9. Nigel Adkins adement he isn't going to be sold in the latest video on Saints Player.
  10. It doesn't work like that.
  11. Not at all, you can sign a contract that takes effect from your 17th birthday. Which is what Saints have done with a large number of their current scholars.
  12. You are also forgetting that he has already signed a 3 year contract with Saints... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2228492,00.html

  14. An American/Sicilian "businessman" interested in Pompey. A business passed from crook to crook since 1999. hmm...suspicious Anyone found any Mafia links for Joseph Calla?
  15. Highlights and interviews now on Saints Player... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/20120111/highlights-reaction-bolton-1-2-u18s_2264122_2574023/0,,10280~2574023~1,00.html
  16. I think doing the best for the promotion campaign comes above playing him in front of an Asian audience in the priority list for Saints at the moment.
  17. I doubt we'll find many Saints fans questioning his ability!
  18. You are missing the point... - Those with Italian/French/Spanish passports don't even need a non EU work permit. They count as EU citizens. - Those that meet the 75% of national team games regardless of quality pass the work permit. However, those that fail the 75% of national games criteria and then have to appeal, do so on other grounds. That is what happened with Lee, and not with the other examples given thus far.
  19. He was the captain of Equador at the World Cup in 2002 and throughout the South American qualifying. He didn't need an appeal like Tandari Lee did for not playing in enough games for the national team.
  20. Chala - He was the captain of Ecuador at the time he joined Saints. Bleidelis - Had 106 caps for Latvia by the end of his career. A large number of them before he joined Saints. Arias - Had an Italian passport.
  21. It seems Saints academy sides from under 8 up to under 18's are using a 4-2-3-1 system, Adkins referred to this in interview after the Coventry game. This might be the "Southampton style" Cortese spoke of in his statement on the OS in May 2010 and may see the first team use it much more (they already have this season for spells). Makes sense to have the same philosophy for style of play from the youngest academy side right up to the first team.
  22. Why can't you include Jos Hooiveld? Had he not signed permanently, he would have left at the turn of the year when his loan expired. Tadanari Lee is extremely close to signing now the work permit situation has been resolved and Adkins has stated they are looking for a number of other players. Neil Lennon confirmed enquires for Gary Hooper and Kris Commons so they are actively searching for players.
  23. Having been to the 3rd round win against Sheff Utd at St Mary's, I would recommend every Saints fan that can should go to the Forest/Wigan game in the 5th round. It is a good and very cheap evenings entertainment and a glimpse at the future of the club!
  24. If Saints hadn't signed Hooiveld he would have returned to Celtic at the beginning of January. I really can;t see why you continually overlook him. As for Lee, he has now all but signed. It is going to happen Mr Dalek. What makes you think there won't be any more signings? Adkins has said there will be and Neil Lennon has confirmed Saints enquiries for Commons and Hooper. Clubs looking to "consolidate" as you keep saying don't do that. I'm at a loss why you keep on with this, the club's transfer activity in the summer window achieved 1st position for when the next window opened. The activity in the summer was very successful and achieved its aims.
