Our B team looking a lot better vs Lazio than they did vs Oxford!

343 Manning, Edwards, Wood as 3 centre backs Bree and Taylor wingbacks Alcaraz and Charles in central midfield Mara upfront, flanked by Brereton Diaz on the left and Amo-Ameyaw on the right

Onuachu is not in any way suited to Martin's style of play. Plan B for Martin is not a change in philosophy from possession to playing to a target man, it is tweaks to the formation or fresh legs with players who also fit the style.

He is 34 and very much on the decline and not the player he once was.

They don't play in the same position/role, so they aren't alternatives for each other.

Is this the COT source?

Some interesting transfer snippets in this interview...

He is playing as one of three centre backs when we don't have the ball and then steps into midfield when we do.
-
We've been using 433 throughout pre-season

He is a 50 year old scout

That is the role of an inverted fullback! So he is doing what he should be doing.

Playing 433 With Ryan Manning in central midfield

Sport Republic already own a French club, Valenciennes FC. They can't own another at the same time.

It is hard to take the article seriously or credible when it says "Charles would be an ideal direct replacement for O'Riley". Shea Charles is a holding midfielder who sits in front of the defence. In no way is he even close to a 'direct replacement' for O'Riley. If they can't get the basics right, why trust them on anything? https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-transfer-news-oriley-charles-33357740

Which of the other clubs listed in the Tweet play in the world's most high profile league, can offer him regular starts and have a bigger income and wage budget than Saints?

This would be quite a coup if Saints managed to pull it off...! https://x.com/berger_pj/status/1817968297348067718?t=gyaDEDUAaR6cgGmvRtSPJQ&s=19

A club standard 40% reduction in wage clause included in contracts does that. Like last time... https://x.com/TheAthleticFC/status/1657433490302877696

This Sky documentary does that...

Depends if you think an article in the Sun counts as 'concrete' https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/29205868/aaron-ramsdale-arsenal-southampton-transfer-news/

How have you worked that out? Any incoming loan keeper, for example Ramsdale could be our starting keeper.
-
The Ipswich comments are strange, but he played over twice as many games for Leeds than he did for Saints so might have more affection for them.
-
He was extremely effective playing on the right wing for the vast majority of last season in the 433 formation. He was not playing centrally for the vast majority of the season. So last season that made him an effective and productive... winger.
-
Adam Armstrong played the vast majority of last season there and was a lot more effective there than he was as a central striker.
