  1. Have you watched these? He was a box to box central midfielder for Burnley in his 18 months there, both in the Premier League and top half of the Championship. Every touch of the ball he has in two games, one in the Premier League 2009/10 and one in the Championship 2010/11... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdMhFjcjGO8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNvOJ3Kqd6c&feature=related
  2. It gains even more value if the owners see out the fruits of the training grounds and academy's labours, rather than selling it early and not seeing through Markus' legacy.
  3. The training facility is costing more than the collective player transfers during the time Markus was at the club and has a specification that wouldn't look out of place at a top 6 Premier League club. Not the actions of owners doing things as Mr X says... They could have kept the initial plans of simply being a good Premier League standard training ground, but instead have gone for a state of the art one that cost 3x times more and will get category one academy status.
  4. So why did the club announce plans for a training ground upgrade before Markus died, then after he died they announced that the were going to build a training facility 3 times more expensive than they originally intended? Kinda blows away your theory...
  5. Which there is, you get the equivalent of 6 games out of 23 for free! Buy 17 and get 6 free is a pretty good discount for any customer.
  6. You can't really compare him to Mellis. Cork has far more experience and at a higher level. Plus Mellis isn't in the current under 21 squad.
  7. Good to hear, but how do you know this?
  8. Chaplow played in 7 Premier League games in 2005, so it isn't a huge amount of experience at that level, nor is it recent. Cork played 11 Premier League games in 2010. So Cork has slightly more Premier League experience and it is 5 years more recent. Plus he is 5 years younger and a current England under 21 international.
  9. Thats the thing with itk information, it isn't itk information if it is already in the public domain. I started the thread to inform people of what I had heard from a source and thought it would interest Saints fans. It will reach the public domain in the coming months once the new academy system has been fully sorted out.
  10. He isn't a right back. Saints haven't made a bid for him to play right back. They have Richardson, Butterfield and Stephens for that. Cork has been playing central midfield for most of his career and is highly regarded at Championship level. He'd be Schneiderlin's central midfield partner.
  11. What this thread needs is some always reliable in judging players quality, youtube videos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdMhFjcjGO8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNvOJ3Kqd6c&feature=related
  12. He is a lot better than Chaplow or Hammond and a midfield of Lallana, Schneiderlin, Cork, Chamberlain should be pretty good at Championship level. All four are recent under 21 internationals for England and France aswell.
  13. He didn't play there though, he was right back today. For Burnley he has been playing central midfield, which is where I'd imagine Saints will use him.
  14. Well, I've had it confirmed, seems like Tac-tics has aswell. Depends if you trust us or not. It also correlates to the quote in The Independent. Four months ago... http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/can-barcelona-model-solve-englands-talent-drought-2215097.html Now they have met those aims.
  15. Planning permission was granted in February 2011 for the temporary training buildings Saints will use during the construction phase. http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/images/planningimages/169247_1.pdf On the 5th May 2011 you can see that the temporary buildings are now in place...
  16. It is stories like this that fuel odds and bookies are happy to take punters money whether they think there is a remote chance of it being a realistic option or not... http://www.teamtalk.com/papertalk/6790361
  17. They haven't classified games between teams within the same league. They have averaged out the price. Teams in different leagues i.e. League One 10/11 and Championship 11/12 have different average prices across the season for matchday prices (£25 and £30 respectively for adult tickets in the centre blocks). You could say the West Ham and Pompey game's prices could really be £35 and the Peterborough and Barnsley matches at St Mary's should be £25. It will "roughly" balance out over the season to £30 ish (although not perfectly as the more attractive games have higher gates).
  18. As the club has decided not to classify games as gold/silver/bronze both in League One or the Championship you can't "play the game" in that way of comparing two games vs Championship teams with a game vs a Championship team and one vs a League One team. It is a standard price for every league game and in a way an average price across the league season.
  19. It was an analogy to show better quality levels of leisure pursuits demand different prices. Not to be taken literally. Do you not think a Championship match vs West Ham should be more expensive than a League One match vs Dagenham & Redbridge?
  20. It is in a new league. If you goto the theatre to see a play by the local am-dram society and then the next year a touring West End show turns up at the theatre and does the same play would you not expect to pay more? You can get Championship level football against Birmingham, West Ham, Leeds, Pompey, Forest etc etc for £11 and £16 per game. It is hardly a lot. Last season Saints were playing Dagenham & Redbridge, Yeovil and Walsall. Of course the price was going to go up, it was cheap last season because of the product on offer.
  21. Those 60 to 65 are quite often (but not always) those with the most disposable cash, then when you turn 65 you get a concession. You can get an adult ticket between the ages of 60 and 65 for £16.50 per game in the family end, £20 per game in the wings/behind goals. If I had no cash/unemployed I would prioritise what I spent any cash I did have on. One thing that would get low priority would be a luxury item like a season ticket for a football team and instead I would pick and choose the occasional game. This is a leisure pursuit not a medical prescription or bus pass, nor should it be compared to them.
  22. Are you a pensioner? Not yet. Are you still working? Possibly Do you have kids at home? Probably not Have you paid off your mortgage? Possibly
  23. A renewal in the family section costs £255. 255 divided by 23 games equals £11.08 per match. If not the family section then a renewal in the wings cost £375, divided by 23 games equals £16.30 per match. Bargain for Championship level football!
  24. A misleading thread title for a subject based on a random Pompey fan posting crap on a message board.
  25. 60+ year olds last season could if they wanted get a season ticket which worked out to be £8.39 per game in League One. In 2011/12 they can get a season ticket for £11 per game for Championship football.
