  1. Season ticket price news and new kit news are guaranteed to be along at some point in the summer. What has been up in the air for the last 20 years of being a Saints fan is if the manager is here for the long term or not. A managerial appointed or contract extension is the most important decision a club can make as it shapes the whole direction of the club. I fail to see why anyone would be underwhelmed by this news given the last 20 years of a Saints managerial merry-go round. In the 36 years between 1955 and 1991 Saints had 3 managers, in the 20 years between 1991 and 2011 Saints have had roughly 20 managers. Some long term stability with a talented manager is more than welcome! Makes it easier to progress, sign new players etc if the manager is secure in his job. Lets hope the contract is honoured by both parties and is a successful period in the clubs history.
  2. My mistake... I last read it a while ago and forgot the correct wording.
  3. This being the key bit... "I have built an enormously powerful network in my time at Liverpool. I worked regularly in Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland and France over the last few years, I've also got contacts in countries like Cameroon and Ghana."
  4. Because the away capacity for league games is 10% of the total capacity and if more than the Northam is redeveloped the capacity will be larger than 37k. So the away capacity will be larger than 3.7k.
  5. Unlikely they would do the Northam on its own, thus the away allocation would be larger than 3.7k.
  6. Then why did Saints win this game 3-1? Saints stopped scoring after they changed at halftime and they got their goal in the second half. Conclusive proof!
  7. Their contracts finish at the end of June.
  8. Would "epic" cover such news?
  9. Who said it was good news? FA Cup final day is a good time to "bury bad news" in a sporting context?
  10. Might be the retained list.
  11. So you think the Danish newspaper made up the interview?
  12. I think Les Reed pretty much has that role already.
  13. What is that hunch based on? Cortese has already stated publicly and privately they are looking into it, the new scout has mentioned the club are looking into it and the owners have already showed a willingness to put their money where their mouth is by investing in infrastructure with a multi million pound upgrade to the training ground. I think a turd sandwich is coming your way relatively soon.
  14. As we already have better infrastructure than them, they aren't in a great position giggle at us. This is just about if Saints widen the gap even further than it already is.
  15. White Hart Lane is only 36k and they got Champions League football this season. Of course an expanded St Mary's above 32k would help achieve any ambitions a little easier. It is too small at the moment should the club return to the top flight as shown by 30k+ averages last time Saints were there.
  16. A member of staff saying what the ambitions of the club are, is more credible than a fan on a forum thinking Michael Owen would/wouldn't join Saints. Yet you compared the two.
  17. Why have you "lol"'d at that? Cortese has talked about it before so it is hardly new or me making it up. Many other clubs have done similar in the past and is a viable way to increase revenue streams in order to meet the new UEFA financial regulations.
  18. There is a big difference between a fan on a forum saying "sign Michael Owen" and a member of staff stating the clubs ambitions and resources to a national publication.
  19. I knew it began with a "M" so I guessed. You call him Matthew, I called him Michael, lets call the whole thing off.
  20. Those rules don't apply to infrastructure. Saints can spend on training facilities and the academy as much as they like. They can also increase the capacity of St Mary's to boost revenue and buy up and develop the land around the stadium to increase revenue streams.
  21. Why? It is only since Matthew Harding and then Abramovich pumped money into Chelesa that their attendances went up. As I said they averaged lower than Saints did in the 3rd tier whilst they were in the 1st tier in the recent past.
  22. 15 years ago, Chelsea in the Premier League averaged a lower attendance than Saints this season in League One.
  23. The target is Champions League Football and funding to match this lofty ambition. Previously this was only mentioned by those that went to the dinner parties with Cortese. Now we have it in the press from an employee (or soon to be employee)... "The club is owned by the Liebherr family. They are incredibly rich and are aware that it will cost money. On short terms the goal is PL, but on the longer term they also want to play in the Champions League and be part of the top clubs in England. With their fortune backing them up they are about the fifth richest club in England, so it is realistic. And there is a willingness to expand the academy, the facilities and the stadium if necessary." http://www.bold.dk/nyt/Friis-Hansen-skal-hjaelpe-Saints-i-PrL Time for some Saints fans to set their ambitions for the club a lot higher! Cortese and the Liebherrs aren't here to hang around in the Championship for years on end, nor the lower reaches of the Premier League. They are aiming for the bigtime and have the resources to do so! Unlike any other owner in the clubs history.
  24. I can be useful at times.
