  1. At no point have I denied Arsenal, Liverpool etc are interested in Chamberlain. They clearly are and it would be hard to argue otherwise given that Comoli has been watching him and Wenger commenting on him publicly. However some papers have been claiming fees have been agreed, Chamberlain visiting Arsenal training ground when in fact he was on his way to the Tranmere game etc etc. There is a difference between the two, the difference being - media bull**** to increase circulation, raise ratings. Whenever someone is struggling to debate with me and they resort to mentioning I research for a computer game it is very similar to Godwin's law...!
  2. Yes - Austin is 21 years old. He has plenty of time to play in the top flight, if he was older then maybe not. - Saints are a much bigger club than Blackpool, there is a good chance both sides could be in the same league next year. - Saints could offer him long term better terms as he progresses. - It is less of an uproot for him as he has a young family. - Ok, Saints can't offer Premier League football but Blackpool may well only have 15 more Premier League games. I doubt he'd play in every one. - If he thinks of the bigger picture of which club will be in the better position at the end of a 3 or 4 year deal, there is only one choice (as long as Saints bid of course )
  3. I wish you had said in the opening post rather than being so vague! I will watch the press conference now. All 22 minutes of it!
  4. Blackpool are punching a long way above their weight. Their wage structure isn't great. Yes he may play some Premier League games but in a mere four months time they could be in the same league as Saints. It is also quite a distance to uproot from family and friends if Austin went to Blackpool.
  5. You know this for certain how?
  6. 7 minute video of Matthew Le Tissier and Ed Draper previewing the game... http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,26691,12606_6704978,00.html
  7. If we weren't at all interested, why was Nigel Adkins at the last Swindon game? In four months time Burnley, Blackpool, Ipswich and Saints could all be in the same league. Which is the most promising team to join if you are signing up for the next 3 years of your young career?
  8. Is that why Saints have only conceded 22 goals, which is the 2nd best defensive record in the league?
  9. I forgot about that. £800k for Saints
  10. I wonder if they thought all of that before they lost at Old Trafford to a League One side in the FA Cup last season?
  11. They have wasted time when they could be doing something else. Or it puts doubts in Fergurson's mind if he wants to put Neville against Lallana or someone else with Rafael injured.
  12. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/27/inter-40m-gareth-bale?CMP=twt_gu Damn you Rupert *shakes fist*
  13. Of course they do! The build up to a game for a professional side would be doing things like working out set pieces and how they expect the opposition to line up and the practice matches will have the starting 11 facing up against reserves playing in the oppositions style. They want to win the FA Cup and this is a potential banana skin game away to a strong League One side. Last season United lost in the 4th round at Old Trafford to a League One side.
  14. What about it being a double bluff?
  15. Anthony Pulis finds the only way to stop Alex Chamberlain in full flight. Gary Neville (if he plays instead of Rafael) should take note!
  16. So... Do Prado Butterfield Forecast Davis Chamberlain Lambert Lallana Jaidi Martin Harding Chaplow Schneiderlin Richardson Barnard Pulis Seaborne All aren't playing? Who the **** is then?
  17. Because that would be lying and unprofessional. Simply showing a photo of Lallana kicking a ball today raises questions if he will play or not, but it doesn't lie. Just depends what interpretation you put on a photo yourself.
  18. I have a feeling these are only there to make Man Utd wonder if for example Lallana might play(I doubt he will but we can hope). Adkins has said himself that he expects opposition managers to look for clues on Saints OS as he does himself on other teams websites and interviews. The reason why he is so cagey to give out injury news is so he plays his cards close to his chest and the opposition manager guessing throughout the week how Saints will play. Makes it harder to do tactical training etc if you don't know. Our own version of mis-information.
  19. Nigel Adkins tells BBC Radio Solent earlier today he's "not aware of any bids having been made for Alex Chamberlain". http://audioboo.fm/boos/263821-nigel-adkins-responds-to-chamberlain-reports-thurs-pm Newspaper have been telling porky pies...
  20. Interview with Danny Wilson earlier today... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/i/ipswich_town/9378614.stm Austin only talking to Ipswich, one bid accepted.
  21. I see your Lester Pigott and Ken Dodd and raise you this more interesting case... English football chairman jailed for 3 years for tax evasion as recently as 5 years ago. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/former-football-boss-jailed-for-tax-evasion-511966.html
  22. That is irrelevant as Swindon have agreed terms with another club. If Swindon have accepted more bids than just from Ipswich then it is now down to player preference (wages, location, ambition of club etc), not the clubs terms for the transfer structure.
  23. Why? You said on the 4th January 2011 that Saints had agreed a deal with Swindon. On 25th January 2011 Danny Wilson said no deal had been accepted from any club, but Blackpool were getting close. Seems to me you took a punt at a likely transfer target and are now trying to claim credit should it go ahead.
  24. thornhill_saints was talking about the wage structure at Blackpool with Charlie Adam, not how much Charlie Austin is on.
  25. If this were true, then Cortese would be talking to Derek Llambias the Newcastle managing director and not Alan Pardew.
