As we already have better infrastructure than them, they aren't in a great position giggle at us. This is just about if Saints widen the gap even further than it already is.

White Hart Lane is only 36k and they got Champions League football this season. Of course an expanded St Mary's above 32k would help achieve any ambitions a little easier. It is too small at the moment should the club return to the top flight as shown by 30k+ averages last time Saints were there.
-
A member of staff saying what the ambitions of the club are, is more credible than a fan on a forum thinking Michael Owen would/wouldn't join Saints. Yet you compared the two.
-
Why have you "lol"'d at that? Cortese has talked about it before so it is hardly new or me making it up. Many other clubs have done similar in the past and is a viable way to increase revenue streams in order to meet the new UEFA financial regulations.
-
There is a big difference between a fan on a forum saying "sign Michael Owen" and a member of staff stating the clubs ambitions and resources to a national publication.
-
I knew it began with a "M" so I guessed. You call him Matthew, I called him Michael, lets call the whole thing off.

Those rules don't apply to infrastructure. Saints can spend on training facilities and the academy as much as they like. They can also increase the capacity of St Mary's to boost revenue and buy up and develop the land around the stadium to increase revenue streams.
-
Why? It is only since Matthew Harding and then Abramovich pumped money into Chelesa that their attendances went up. As I said they averaged lower than Saints did in the 3rd tier whilst they were in the 1st tier in the recent past.
-
15 years ago, Chelsea in the Premier League averaged a lower attendance than Saints this season in League One.

The target is Champions League Football and funding to match this lofty ambition. Previously this was only mentioned by those that went to the dinner parties with Cortese. Now we have it in the press from an employee (or soon to be employee)... "The club is owned by the Liebherr family. They are incredibly rich and are aware that it will cost money. On short terms the goal is PL, but on the longer term they also want to play in the Champions League and be part of the top clubs in England. With their fortune backing them up they are about the fifth richest club in England, so it is realistic. And there is a willingness to expand the academy, the facilities and the stadium if necessary." http://www.bold.dk/nyt/Friis-Hansen-skal-hjaelpe-Saints-i-PrL Time for some Saints fans to set their ambitions for the club a lot higher! Cortese and the Liebherrs aren't here to hang around in the Championship for years on end, nor the lower reaches of the Premier League. They are aiming for the bigtime and have the resources to do so! Unlike any other owner in the clubs history.

I can be useful at times.

From when he left Liverpool in January 2011... "Jakob Friis-Hansen, along with five other scouts were terminated in Liverpool. The 43-year-old Dane will now leverage its strong network in a role as a scout or possibly sports director. In 2008, Jakob Friis-Hansen under Rafa Benitez 'management employed as a scout for Liverpool FC, but after two-and-a-half years in the job he has now finished. Together with a further five scouts, he has been terminated. - I have just signed the papers and finish at the club. It has been in the air that would happen, since Comolli (sporting director Damien Comolli, ed) was employed, so it does not come as a great surprise, says Jakob Friis-Hansen bold.dk and adds: - Virtually everyone who has been employed under Benitez, has now finished at the club. This is also a couple of Spanish coaches. It is very natural that it happens when a new manager or sporting director to a club. We did never actually meet Comolli, but he has some other ideas, and it is basically fair enough. I've got a nice severance scheme and is free to start a new job. The 43-year-old Dane looks confidently into the future. The time at Liverpool has equipped him with new challenges. - I have built an enormously powerful network in my time at Liverpool. I worked regularly in Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland and France over the last few years, like I've got contacts in countries like Cameroon and Ghana. - I'd really like to strengthen the network even more in the future with a job as a scout for a few years and I have also already received the first complaints from a couple of foreign clubs, "says Friis-Hansen, however, does not reject other positions. - A job as sports director where it really affects what happens on the pitch and the players that are retrieved in, could well be interesting for me. I will not reject anything - not even in Denmark, says Friis Hansen, who has enjoyed his experience in England. - I almost felt like playing again. You will travel around and meet many of the same people you played with and against that asset and it has been fantastic. Besides you do not lace the boots, it has almost been like back then, and I would still like to be a part of ending Friis-Hansen. Jakob Friis-Hansen played as active in the B1903, Lyngby, Bordeaux, Lille and HSV, as he reached 19 games on the Danish national team. As a trainer, he has headed the HIK and Wexford Youths. Jacob Friis-Hansen joined Liverpool in 2008. Hypia signed in 1999 from a Dutch team, Riise in 2002 and was signed from Monaco, Henchoz in 1999 (is Swiss, not Scandiavian and was signed from Blackburn Rovers) and Jari Litmanen signed in 2001 from Barcelona!

It isn't just going to be him scouting Europe either, he will have his own department... "I am responsible for finding players and create a scouting department with full-and part-time employees." The club already has a number of scouts in England at both senior and academy level, this is the next level.

They aren't free at all. They would all require very large signing on fees and agent fees.
-
Theo Walcott - Swindon Town Adam Lallana - Bournmeouth Dexter Blackstock - Oxford United Leon Best - Notts County etc etc Saints, like every other club in England does exactly the same to those smaller or less fortunate than themselves. Doesn't make it right, but if you tarnish one club as doing something "morally wrong", Saints have done the same to countless others. Saints have also taken advantage in the last two seasons of major financial problems at Southend to sign Barnard, Oldham to sign Stephens and Charlton to sign Richardson.

I didn't, I stayed in the Kingsland and enjoyed the celebrations from there. What I did see was a lot of people after the initial buzz of being on the pitch have an anti-climax and milling around not knowing what to do. Everyone could have quite easily stayed in the stands and still enjoyed the post match celebrations and a lap of honour (which the pitch invasions ruined the chances of happening).
-
Yes, but not for the reason you gave in this thread.
-
You didn't post before I said this in post #27 in this thread... The wink shows I wasn't being serious ffs!
-
Very selective quoting you used there. I was clearly joking and said..."Throw the book at them I say! :D" afterwards which you cut out.
-
Nope, they were drinking in the disabled area in front of the directors box. Throw the book at them I say! It really is silly that you can drink in the stands at cricket and rugby but not football. Bloody hooligans ruining it for the rest of us.
-
It is in the stands at St Mary's.
-
Apart from the the aqueduct, sanitation, roads, irrigation, medicine, education, wine, public baths, keeping order and bringing peace?

The minimum drinking age in Las Vegas is 21, and the minimum gambling age is 21. Minors are not allowed in the casino gaming areas. A few of them could be facing a dull holiday. Although, all of them were illegally drinking in the St Mary's stands on Saturday (including 17 year old Chamberlain). So who knows, maybe they'll get away with it , but is Vegas really the best idea for a company with young employees?
