Thanks for sort-of clarifying it but as you say, it would be nice if the club could think it through before the event, then communicate accurately what's happening, then follow through in terms of displaying the points gained etc. While we are all having a grizzle does anybody else think it strange that home games are dribbled out one at a time? What possible advantage is there for the club in selling one home game at a time? Obviously for the three or four super-gold games they may well want to put a points tariff on so that they can sell the most in-demand games to the loyalist (sic) customers first. I've got several friends/colleagues who have asked about coming to a game (those fabled premier league fans who are prepared to travel 150 miles to see Premier league football, not every week but two or three times a season possibly). Somebody said 'Fulham' last week, they just want to go to a game, not glory hunting big games, and were astonished when I said tkts weren't out yet! We will struggle for 26k-27k for this game and I've just turned away 3 or 4 sales. People have a life outside footie and people will make alternative plans for their time - IMHO we are verging dangerously close to MLG country where demand is artificially capped by the percieved, or in many cases actual, difficulty in buying a bl**dy ticket!

Where are you getting that from? I thought ST's got points for turning up, and why wouldn't they get the points if they bought another home tkt in their name? I assume that non-STs get points for buying home tkts? Therefore there are nominally a set number of points to share out each home game? I have 3 STs and have just bought 2 tkts to Villa, I am expecting to buy somewhere between 1-3 extra tkts for quite a few games this season and was expecting to spread the points over our 3 ST I will be pretty miffed I buy 20-30 'extra' tickets over the season and my points remain the same as somebody who doesn't buy any. They seem to be making this up as they go along!

Weren't they called 'unit fines' or some such? Judge/magistrates took your living costs off of your income and then fined you a fixed tariff of your disposable income. Predictable Daily Mail headlines when (rich) people were fined 500 and 1000 for littering or other relatively 'minor' offences. Policy lasted a matter of weeks if I recall. Shame, in my opinion it was the way to go (I always chuckle when footballers are 'fined' X amountfor their various misdemeanours, it's the equivalent of fining an ordinary Joe a couple of quid).

Hated it when it came out but no issues with it on the pitch, a kit's a kit, more interested in what the players are doing than what they're wearing. After two games I'm not even noticing it's not stripes, I quite like it in a one-off sash sort of way. Does look tacky up close though, although I have to say I've seen several female types who wear it very well!

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
sandwichsaint replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
TBF if Cortese spotted (or was tipped off about) Waigo and Gully as League1 players he's got a pretty good eye (or contacts) for a player. Does anybody think Waigo or Gully were scouted directly by Pardew, or Read, or by anybody else at SFC? -
Thank god for that! Just voted blind for Morgan and glad to see he is winning by miles .... maybe we'll have less of those 'but what does he do?' posts this season. Really tough competition today from JWP, SD, AL and RL, but MS looked the real deal today.

Geoffrey you have email.

Did anybody link this yesterday from the Guardian? Decent read, mainly from their perspective but it shows how we've punched above our weight before ..... and we can do so again tomorrow ... 2-0 Saints! http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/aug/31/joy-of-six-manchester-united-southampton

Anyway, in a Kevin Keegan stylee, 'we'll score one more than you', ..........................KD ............................. Patsy .......... Jos ......... Yoshi ..........Fox ................ Cork ........Morgan ................ ....Myuka .........Gaston ..........Lallana ..... ........................SRL ........................... Nice! Gazz Fonte Davis Gully Lee Rodriguez At last. A game-changing bench. Happy days.
-
Are you sure? Looks decent to me and appears to have a bit of 'edge' about him, I wouldn't say he has looked lightweight at all so far.
-
Sorry to hear that, hope you're back on the bike soon.

Fantastically sensible buying .... pretty much all of these players will have a good sell-on value. All of these players are of a good age and have plenty of growing to do. We get the use of decent players in the here and now and as circumstances change (up or down) they will maintain their value. Win/win!

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
sandwichsaint replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
We now have Ramirez, Myuka, Lambert, Lallana, Lee, J Rod, and Gully competing for 3 or 4 starting positions. Unfortunately Billy was one too many, even his most blinkered supporters would struggle to shoe-horn him into that starting X1 or even onto the bench. We should all be thankful for what he did for us and wish him well, great move for him and the Forest/O'Driscoll combo should go close this season. Top bloke but I'll always remember him for that miss at West Ham, a top 10 I-was-there Saints moment from the last few seasons. -
Lawrenson's Premier Predictions this weekend
sandwichsaint replied to yellow&blue's topic in The Saints
For somebody that was a very good player he is an absolutely shocking pundit, can't believe he keeps that BBC gig year in, year out. There must be other people out there? (TBF Hanson is no better). -
If Saints take 10 pkts of biscuits to the meeting are 3 of these 10 then due to Penarol, or are Penarol owed another 3 packets of biscuits on top of Bologna's 10? And who pays for Penarol's biscuits? (sorry if it's obvious but haven't quite read every post).

I've got starch, I'm just not sure if I'm wearing the right shirt?

Thought the virtual queue was a good idea in theory but not sure how well it worked in practice? I went on at 08-30 on the off-chance and to see what was happening - I was placed in a 'virtual gueue' until 09-00, quite happy with that. We now find out somebody, presumably more than 1 person(?), bought tickets at 08-20 ... not happy with that. Once the site opened at 09-00 I was placed in the 'queue' with a time of 10.15, this adjusted down several times until the site appeared to crash at 09-15. I then couldn't get back into the ticket site or the OS despite repeated trying ... not too chuffed about this ... I joined the virtual queue at 08-30, I left the browser open until 09-15 when I was booted off. (Perhaps this equalled the tickets 'selling out'? eg no more requests accepted ... if that was the case it would have been slightly more courteous to have put up a message saying 'Arsenal sold out, please log off). With such a relatively small amount of tickets and such a potential large demand not sure this was the best way of doing it? A season ticket ballot would surely have been 'fairer' at this stage and saved anybody having to get up at 05-00 to queue up or to log on!
-
Website fell over at 9-15 .. I was in the auto cue from 9-00 to 9-15 and it was refreshing ...it then crashed and threw me off.
-
No, online and ticket office only.
-
Liar! (or the system's not working, or you went to Man City?) Mine says 'in an auto cue till 09-00, places in queue will be allocated randomly'.
-
You're also missing anybody who bought a tkt for City 'to get the points' but didn't go, would have thought some might have done this? Regretting not doing it myself now! We couldn't go last week, we now won't get Arsenal tickets (presumably there are points for these?); I have 3 STs but don't need any extras for Wigan or ManU (a couple of the people that will be coming to games are still playing lge cricket the next two weekends and will be buying extras for quite a few games). Reckon I could be behind the 8 ball points-wise for the rest of the season? Never had a ST before but we regularly do 10 homes, 10 aways, rather ironic that when they start bringing in a points system (which would have benefitted me massively in the last few seasons) I manage to get on the wrong side of it! Did anybody buy Man City just to get points or to get Arsenal tickets?
-
At last, the club have finally released pictures of this season's elusive third kit. Expect The9 to pop along any time soon and tell us all the last time we wore black mid-length socks.
-
Has any ticket info gone out for this game yet? Can't see it anywhere, isn't the game to be played in the week between Wigan and ManU (?????)

Says nice things about us on BBC sport today ... usual guff about great ground, great fans, great academy, great facilities .... calls us a 'ready made Prem club' and says we will stay up comfortably. Still a cu-nt tho!
