  1. It's best not to underestimate anybody during the run in, not so long ago Cardiff looked dead certs for the drop but they've confounded a lot of people of late. We must do it ourselves and not find our salvation in other's failing.
  2. Ralph's average points take so far if maintained would give us 42. It is still a big 'ask' with all our opponents fighting for something. Even if we win two at home and draw one other, we still need three draws for our four away games... we'd better pay the fat lady a lot of money to stay in the dressing room for now.
  3. Funny how things are turning out as many on here insisted that this year with the dominance of the big 6 clubs could ease from relegation with only 32 or 34 points. Now we are all on 30 with 8 matches to play and still feeling uncomfortable it is evident that a much higher target will be needed to stay up. Hassenhuttl says 40 which is the normally quoted figure and he could be right. For us that's three wins and a draw or two wins and four draws. Surely we can do that?
  4. You're probably right but don't rule out Bertrand, Gunn & Redmond getting a call
  5. Not a very thoughtful suugestion The word 'lazy' is not one that would be tolerated under the new coaching regime. Mario is still here so RH certainly won't be seeing him as lazy.
  6. We've become a nasty niggly little side whose game plan is to intimidate and unsettle the opposition by getting in their faces from the start. Great isn't it! Spurs seemed to have only the long ball over the top as their main plan and it didn't work. Our three CBs must have sorely strained neck muscles to night but by and large didi a job on Deli Alli and Harry Kane. I don't agree with Ward Drowse as MotM but there you go, Hoj as usual led from the front throughout and avoided going in the book - definite improvement!
  7. Cedric for me and here's why? Valery will get snapped up by a big club in the summer if he continues his development at his current pace. Ergo: we end up with nobody!
  8. Is anybody else getting pumped up about this game? Long time since it has been an exciting prospect walking up to SMS. There is something here for us at 2-2
  9. What plot? Why on earth would the guy give up a Chairman role to be a humble coach? I doubt he would earn 1/10th of his salary here as a coach in hockey in Canada.
  10. Is it a co-incidence that the upturn in our performances last week followed the reinstatement of Bertrand & Yoshida to the first XI? Of course not. Arguably they are both better than they have been for the last couple of years and much of that must be down to their belief in what Hasenhuttl is doing.
  11. It means nothing we are a completely different side now playing in a completely different way. With a week's rest for us but not for them our high intensity pressing game could overwhelm them especially if they get toasted by Dortmund. 2-2 is my call.
  12. Might not be the wisest thing you've ever thought of doing, these refs are pretty fit and athletic and can probably give as good as they would expect to get.
  13. Three things cost us the game; We don't have a decent striker like Lukaku Players exhausted after 65 minutes, too soon after Wednesday night Bertrand told to be less aggressive in second half because of his caution for over enthusiastic play. Apart from that a thoroughly decent performance that deserved at least a point and maybe 3
  14. Our biggest problem will be recovery from Wednesday evening when every player pretty much exhausted themselves physically and probably mentally. That was a game of huge intensity for our players, with the best will in the world trying to repeat that level of sustained effort on Saturday may be beyond most of our players especially he more experienced ones (i.e. older ones). We should certainly go with the same XI (arguably the best we've got bar Ings) just to make sure we don't give away anything silly in the first phase of play of about 20 minutes. We scored twice against them at SMS and were unlucky not to win so maybe just maybe we can get something. Thye've been on a good run of late but all things come to an end
  15. Clutching at straws a bit Steve. Think back to Ricky Lamberts mobility and holding up abilities as well as his ability sin the box and you realise that Austin is so limited that it is amazing he ever made it to the PL. If people are grateful for small signs of improvement in Austin then it shows only how low our expectations of our strikers have sunk.
  16. and the bloke walking around the touchline selling very dubious "cough sweets" and calling out "Cough no more for sixpence!" No that's what I call Half Time entertainment. Oh and we had the old lads of the brass band marching around out of step Those were the days eh lads?
  17. He's a young lad on a very steep learning curve and needs a lot of guidance from the senior pros to become a complete player. Quite noticeable how Bertie was giving him a lot of advice last night. I thought Bertie was magnificent last night, tremendous leadership and commitment throughout. Perhaps the burden of being captain made it harder for him? Whatever there were clear signs last night that his was enjoying his football again and even more important was playing for the team. Hope this means he won't be off in the summer. if he stays fit and performs like this every week Southgate will have no option but to re-call him and Japa
  18. Itchen was half empty. The official figure never acknowledges that many ST's stayed away
  19. People can't handle the truth!
  20. Damn nice weather so no excuse for not having a full house tonight. The most exciting part of the evening could be the team announcement, any XI from a fit XV?
  21. Way past time in reality.
  22. Very pessimistic about this one. There is no silver bullet in our squad. Whichever XI is put out tomorrow night we will still be plagued by stupid errors, panic under pressure and aimless tippy-tappy in the final third. No question Fulham will see this as one of their few big opportunities remaining to get a result in a late bid for survival. They will aim not to concede with nine behind the ball and try to pinch one on the break with long balls over the top to their CF, knowing full well our nigh on hopeless limitations in attack if we go one down. This is yet another of those "must win" 6 pointers and we know from bitter experience how well we do in those sort on matches. I fear 0-1, can't see better than 0-0. Neither result is good enough with Manure & Spuds next up. We cannot now rely on others to help us. If we don't get 3 points tomorrow and Cardiff win one of their next three it may be too late to avoid the drop. That's how important tomorrow's game is.
  23. I hope you are right and he is being re-introduced gently. Expect to see him v Fulham, if not it will confirm that we have an egoist tozzer in charge who can only manage non entity "Yes" men and "do as your told" kids.
  24. Clueless utter s****! No wonder we're going down. Good job Arsenal went to sleep after HT. A few question marks hovering over the Alps now.
  25. Nah, it'll be Bednarek as he seems to be the only one who has an effing clue.
