I hate this assumption by fans that we think we "know" players and are willing to slag them off, criticise them based on an assumption that we are correct in our interpretation of their attitude. Recently we've seen it with Puncheon, Beckford and now Beattie. All we can judge them on is what they do on the pitch - it's up to the manager to make the call over whether they "fit" or not.
-
On a totally unrelated note, Sebastian Shaw was John Peel's step father.

7th - 12th which I think is pretty good.
-
I agree with this - it makes sense for both parties. All depends on his attitude and wage demands. His wage expectations shouldn't be too high - he must have made an absolute mint and the pay off from Rangers would mean an average wage wouldn't be too much of a disappointment to him.
-
To be honest it's not the money - but it is shocking and it's not a new thing either. The fact we're paying for it does grate a bit but I get the impression charging us 20 quid or 50 quid wouldn't sort it out. It's been an issue for ages and seems to get worse not better.....

For a subscription site this is pretty crap.

Di Canio certainly is one mental fascist!
-
Actually I disagree, the season he and Rasiak linked up they worked well together and personally I think if they'd stayed together the following season we would have either had a better chance of winning the play offs or even automatic. I don't think it was fan pressure that caused Fuller to leave though.
-
Didn't NA mention him in an interview last week as having had a good game for the development squad? Would make sense to give him a chance. Think he would be benefit by going out on loan.
-
I agree he probably won't join us and I'm not convinced we're even interested but it's not an unrealistic suggestion. I need to end this post on a disagreeable note that indicates I know more than you....how would I do that?.....wait I've got it....FFS!

International Breaks - Like them or hate them?
revolution saint replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
Hate them, don't have the same affinity with England as I do Saints. Saints can disappoint me endlessly and I still can't give them up but England.....well I just don't care in the same way. -
Not really having a pop at you but unless you know him then none of us can comment on his attitude - it might be good or it might not. I'd rather concentrate on whether he's a good player and will trust Adkins and Cortese to make their mind up about his attitude.

"Only a ginger, can call another ginger Ginger"
revolution saint replied to gaz's topic in The Lounge
It's not offensive and quite funny. I've, sadly, got some ginger family members and they think it's funny too although they like to point out that they aren't ginger but orange. That's fair enough - too many people masquerade under misleading labels such as red heads, ginger, auburn etc when they are actually just orange. -
I remember you slagging him and schneiderlin off a couple of years ago but changed your mind after seeing them play against bristol rovers 2 seasons ago. Can't be arsed to trawl through 21000 of your posts.
-
You've come a long way from slagging him off........ but, yes, best player in the league for me and no amount of money would compensate his loss.

I like Soccer Saturday even with it's preoccupation with all things prem. Merson is a prat but the rest of them are ok and is infinetly better without the the halves of the pantomime horse that were Rodney Marsh & Frank McClintock. Jeff Stelling is also the best football anchorman in the business.

The Verve at a V festival. Clearly couldn't be bothered and didn't care. Wish I'd seen James Brown in the dance tent instead.
-
Yes, I have and neither is he quick. He's a busy player I'll give you that but then so is Barnard, and like Barney he's a nuisance....and that's exactly what we'd be signing - someone who would be competing for a place on the bench with Barney.
-
Pace? really?
-
To be fair that's an easy out to criticise people who hold an opinion different than you. I don't really care where he comes from or how much was paid for him in the past. It comes down to a judgement and personally I don't rate him. If we were talking 500k then he's worth a punt but he needs to be playing games and based on ability I don't think he's better than Connolly or Barnard so he'd struggle to even get on the bench.
-
Equally you could argue it's crazy to write off the players we've already got, and have done well for us. If you're spending this amount of money then you have to make a subjective judgement - Is he better than Connolly? Is he better than Barney? IMO no, and it's a shame people don't give them a chance isn't it?
-
Based on what I've seen I don't think he's better than Connolly, and in his absence I'd rather play Barney. I'm not sure we need him.
-
Absolutely, never thought that I'd be advocating prudence if we were in a position to spend big but frankly I just can't see the value in the domestic market at this level. If teams like West Ham and Leicester want to go down that route then fine, good luck to them but we don't need to do that.
-
Agree with this, you can tell if your neighbours are on vodaphone as they're all outside making calls. That said I have an old school phone that just makes calls and texts - I've no need for anything else.

I think Leicester are the only show in town for Maynard.
