  1. Anything happened over this?
  2. Depends on your point of view - many of them voted precisely because their constituents wanted them to vote for a ceasefire so in that case it was actually putting "the needs of the people" first. It was a pointless vote but nevertheless.
  3. Yawn, Tories are still shit.
  4. I'd be happy if the squad stays as it is. It's already better than the vast majority of teams both in terms of quality and depth. It's probably only the right side of attack where we don't have a natural first choice player but even that enables us to give players that need minutes or don't deserve to be dropped an opportunity.
  5. Not going to pretend that KS is the finished article but I think having strikers that have decent instincts and good movement would help him when it comes to the final ball. There's loads of instances where he's put really dangerous crosses in but no one there, or no one gambling near post and getting in front of the defender. I'm hoping Ross Stewart helps in that respect.
  6. Alcaraz top scorer each way….. Long way to go but don’t look likely at the moment so don’t get cocky kid
  7. What the fuck are we going to talk about for next couple of weeks now? FFS!
  8. We're heading into an international break so it'll be a defeat or a draw followed by two weeks of agonising analysis of if, why and how we're terrible.
  9. What happened to DellDays and Batman? Different as chalk and cheese but I liked them both. Um Pahars and Not The Kevin Moore were decent posters too.
  10. mcjwills sadly died a few years ago. Not sure he counts as a prolific poster but he used to work with my Dad and I only found out a while after he died. Nice bloke.
  11. No complaints with that line up.
  12. I can't wait for the one where Ross makes his debut and scores 5 goals.
  13. Fucks sake I expected at least someone to fall for it!
  14. People being pendants.
  15. I think Blair was pretty transformative; introduced the minimum wage, gave BoE independence and spent a relative fortune on the public sector which did get results such as reducing NHS waiting lists. You might not like much of that but it was definitely not the actions of a Tory government
  16. Tend to agree, we’re crying out for a decent in form striker although playing devils advocate we’ve tried Adams, A Armstrong, Alacaraz and now to a lesser extent Mara. The system either doesn’t favour the central striker, or they’ve all played a bit shit when they’ve played there.
  17. Last couple of games I thought Sulemana has done well - produced some good crosses but our other forwards have been too slow to take advantage. I think against Hull there were three good crosses that would have looked better if someone gambled and went near post. Hopefully Ross Stewart can do that.
  18. It did make me laugh hearing him yesterday talking about the "journey" the fans have been on. I'm so used to hearing metaphorical management speak that it's quite strange to hear journey being used properly.
  19. Thanks for sharing those links, some really fascinating stuff although we could probably veer well off topic discussing them all.
  20. I might have a look at the video later so can't really comment on that. I assume the point is that no one or no organisation can be truly impartial, and you can probably make a philosophical debate out of that but it's not going to get you any further than a pantomime of an argument that descends into "The BBC is impartial" vs "Oh no it isn't". There can be no clear answer either because it's in the eye of the beholder and subjective. I could of course respond with the fact that your link is to a man sacked for breaking BBC impartiality rules - it's not like he doesn't have any skin in the game is it? Point I was making is that if you want to make a case for the license fee being unnecessary and irrelevant then you're best off leaving impartiality out of it. I mean, I quite like the BBC and the license fee model, but it does look fairly anachronistic and quite difficult to defend in a media landscape that has a plethora of channels and streaming options. Anyway, knock yourself out on the impartiality debate if you want - it won't get you anywhere.
  21. Your kind of impartiality would be endless droning about culture wars - I doubt a news story goes by without you trying to find some angle to bring it up. So the idea that you have any kind of handle on impartiality is frankly laughable. As to your second point I've already said that it's becoming harder to justify a license fee in a media landscape that has so many options available. It's nothing to do with impartiality though and as all broadcast media are required to be impartial, getting rid of a licence fee would make no difference whatsoever.
  22. That's bollocks. People don't want to pay for it because they don't feel they use it enough. That's a fair argument although I actually like the BBC and the license fee but I can see it being harder and harder to justify.
  23. Ofcom requires all broadcast media to be impartial. Surprised you didn't notice it cos GB News got done for it not so long ago: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/news-centre/2023/ofcom-finds-gb-news-in-breach-of-due-impartiality-rules#:~:text=An Ofcom investigation has today,2023%2C breached due impartiality rules.
  24. That's you though isn't it? I may be mistaken but you're the one who talks about women as "birds"? Tremendous self aware irony if intended though!
  25. I think if you're not interested in what Martin or Wilcox has to say then it's probably best to ignore it. They'll still get judged on results by most, if not all, fans. I've got my doubts over Martin and I'm not sure the emphasis on a particular style or philosophy is the best way forward but I am interested to hear about the thinking behind it and the kind of football they're trying to implement. Sure, it's a PR exercise but sounds like it was a lot more informative than your average pre game press conference. Hopefully the club put it on the OS or the YouTube soon.
