  1. Did we really though? Whilst we may have kept the ball under Martin it was all pretty safe passing and not the kind of quick incisive adventurous passing game you see from the successful teams. I think Fernandes is a decent passer and THB has his moments with long diagonals but I'm not sure you could call many of our players "passers". Personally I think we just bought really poorly and whilst looking at different styles etc can be a bit of fun, ultimately whatever the style used, I don't think many of the players are good enough at premier league level. Agree with you that it feels a bit strange to keep changing managers with what appears to be different philosophies and although I don't think it makes as much difference as many people would, it does point to a lack of clarity and direction at boardroom level. Hopefully a director of football will address that. No real inside information but I think Juric is probably more stopgap than long term and if we get a DoF in then they normally want to make their mark and bring in someone they know and can work with.
  2. I dunno, I still think next season could be decent. Sheff Utd were appalling last season and they're currently 3rd and only a point behind Leeds in first. Plus I think we're probably better equipped for the championship this time around - we'll have players leave but I don't think it'll be on the same scale as at the start of last season and the ones left are still good (mostly) proven championship players. Obviously could go the other way but it shouldn't be cataclysmic. Important thing for me is to be clear on getting everything ready for next season now. That means getting a DoF in, a decision on the manager relatively early, identifying players and all that stuff.
  3. Except that's really not true is it? You keep threatening to leave but never do, or you want a fight pre-game with the lefty morons. It's not the actions of someone who doesn't care about them and more like someone obsessed by them.
  4. Despite not being a fan of putting too much reliance on data, I think it's just poor decision making. Brentford and Brighton are both largely credited with focussing on data with regard to their recruitment and they seem to do fine. We're just a bit shit. SR really have been crap - the amount of money they've spunked down the drain to end up with a worse squad and two relegations is quite remarkable.
  5. Musk isn't the living embodiment of the internet or social media though. Of course he has a voice, and of course social media has an impact but (and I want to be quite specific here) he is not "in some ways the most powerful and influential person in all of human history". He's not even the best exponent of social media to leverage attention into power (Trump). There's been many many people in human history that have been powerful and influential and they've all done something - what has Musk actually done (apart from making a shit ton of money)? The starlink thing is a good exercise in his execution of power and that's a good example to use but there's not much else besides creating some headlines that get people worked up. So, yeah, you can make an argument that the internet is a powerful tool but don't conflate Musk with the internet.
  6. Straw man argument. The only judgement I’m making is that Musk is not, in some ways, the most powerful and influential person in human history. It’s a stupid argument, ironically ignoring virtually all of human history.
  7. Where would you place Tom Paine in your list of power and influence in the whole of human history? When he wrote Common Sense, still the most widely read pamphlet ever, he helped galvanise a nation into revolution. And then, blow me, if that wasn’t enough he buggers off wrote The age of reason and helped out in the French Revolution. Clearly not on the same level as Musk or Rogan. Maybe fourth behind Russell Brand?
  8. Indeed, in some ways Joe Rogan has more power and influence than anyone else in human history.
  9. Because over the years people have said the same thing over and over about media moguls and really that's the best kind of comparison to make - with someone like Rupert Murdoch, Randolph Hearst and Lord Beaverbrook. Ultimately they had some influence and I'm not denying that but it was limited in the same way that Musk's is. Talk about recency bias.
  10. So you didn't say, "In some ways musk has more power and influence than anyone in human history"? That's an incredible claim, the whole of human history? Seriously? Hitler, Stalin, FDR, Reagan, Lenin, Caesar, Churchill, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Peter the Great, Napoleon. That's just off the top of my head.
  11. Which part did you want to retract then?
  12. Again, just because his views are heard really doesn't equate to power and lets's not forget that the original claim was "He has more power and influence than anyone in human history" which is clearly laughable.
  13. Bizarre you would think that holding opinions and being able to voice them makes much of a difference. Social media may have a big influence on people who use social media and think it's a big deal but, honestly, it's really not. Xi Jinping has power, Putin has power, Trump has power. Musk doesn't have anywhere near the same power and his ability to affect things is pretty small.
  14. You're confusing his ability to make a few short-lived headlines with actual power, of which, he has very little.
  15. No he doesn't.
  16. TBH I haven’t been looking at other clubs but would have expected a few rumours if we were targeting a position and from what I can tell there doesn’t seem to be many. Personally think it’s probably best to have a quiet one anyway. If we have an opportunity to shift some on then great but incoming should wait till the summer
  17. Given the lack of any rumours it’s probably safe to say this window will be relatively quiet.
  18. I think Fernandes is decent, actually I think he’s really good. He was about 15m wasn’t he? Ramsdale is good too. Not too much after that though…..
  19. Nice one, cheers for that. Can I order three years of championship fun and promotion at the end of the third? I'd take a miserable premier league season every four years but wouldn't want to do too much more than that.
  20. Must admit I'm not up on the parachute payments. I thought the number of years you get of payments varied upon the length of time you stayed up? If you're relegated in the first season I thought you only got one year of payments? I'm probably completely wrong on that though.
  21. TBH I don't follow him so unless he pops up in the news then I don't have much of an idea what he's doing. Seems quite childish but then from what I can tell, he is quite childish.
  22. Sounds like a desperate troll and an attempt to get some attention. I mean, is he seriously suggesting America should "liberate" us? Poor effort, could do better.
  23. It changes but at the moment I'm leaning towards "Here's where the story ends" by The Sundays.
  24. Glad the forum is back, I had no idea what to think.
  25. Any truth to the rumour that Dragan started the "We want our money back" chant?
