I always pretend it was something by The Jam but actually it was Boxer Beat by JoBoxers.

Furuhashi didn't last long at Nice then. Didn't he only sign in January and for a decent wedge? Clips I've seen of him at Celtic looked decent but lots of players look good for Celtic and fail elsewhere. Shows the amount of money Brum are prepared to spend though.

Damion Downs is a BEAST There's some good stuff in there, he's not a premier league quality striker but you don't get them for what is it, 6.8M? He's really only had one full season of mens football so there will be lots to improve in his game and hopefully we'll get to see that. Plus he'll probably be understudy to Stewart initially.
-
I guess it depends how we see Armstrong - if it's as a central striker then no, I think we'd be happy to stick with what we've got with Archer being the obvious person to step up. If it's as a right side of a three or a more conventional wide player then I think we probably would get someone else in. We've got a few who can play that role with Dibling being the obvious but doubtful he'll be here in September and after that I guess we're looking at Aribo or even Edozie?

It's not just finances though - their owner is barking mad. His managerial appointments are generally bizarre and whenever he gets a decent one like Rosenior he sacks them.
-
I still quite like it although the two different reds and not having stripes on the back let it down a bit.
-
Terrible news about Jota but releasing a new kit is completely unconnected. Surely no one is seriously going to take offence, and why would they?
-
Difficult to say, formations tend to vary although he does like wingers and his teams generally get more crosses in than most teams. I’m not expecting a dogmatic attachment to any particular formation.
-
I agree on Archer and think he’ll do well for us. He’s a bit similar to Balogun and Will Still got the best out of him. Someone like Downs or Stewart gives us another dimension and should create space for Archer to exploit.

You were banging on a while ago about the Monkees not being very good. CBA to find it now.
-
I nearly put “Pleasant valley Sunday” by the monkees just to annoy you. Actually I do really like that track but didn’t make the cut.

Cheers, yeah, that's the one on one of those Radio 2 Live Lounge type compilations I think? I remember having to buy the whole CD to get it on the jukebox but sounds great. I've got this fella:https://soundleisure.com/product/sl15-slimline-cd-jukebox/ It's probably the most self indulgent thing I've bought but bloody amazing.

Cheers, yep, well before my time too but loads to like about Small Faces and Steve Marriott voice is great.

Yeah, and you can actually make a case that another striker isn't a particular priority and we can make do with what we already have. Archer, Armstrong, Stewart and BBD have all had decent spells in the championship to some extent. Personally I'd like someone tall, rangy, decent pace and good mobility but I don't think we'll go mental on a big money signing so someone like Downs fits the bill. No idea if he'll be a success or not but the idea is decent and we'll judge the reality if he signs. A more established player would still come with an element of uncertainty but for different reasons.
-
Yep, just goes to show how difficult it is to judge players and also how expensive strikers with those kind of attributes are. I watched the two play off games against Charlton and specifically paid attention to Kone and wasn't that impressed. Both games were god awful with very little quality from either side so I won't say he's bad, just that on those showings he didn't catch the eye much.
-
And you won't know any of that until the end of the season.
-
Probably not although I wouldn't mind him in. I got the impression that the early deals Solak was talking about would be mostly at the cheaper end and easy deals to do. Fellows (or anyone else linked with premier league moves) is going to wait as long as they possibly can to see if a deal comes up. If it doesn't then that's when they go to a championship club.
-
I didn't dislike Brooks and he seems like a good lad but, based on his performances for us and given the chance I probably wouldn't sign him. I'm guessing Fellows must definitely be off if Brooks is coming in.
-
Coventry fans seem to really rate him: https://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/milan-van-ewijk.168172/
-
Nah, fair enough. Looking at his record though I'm not sure anyone would get excited if his name wasn't prefixed with "ex-Liverpool youngster".
-
Only started 7 of those 17 though and has played 21 minutes since 15th Feb (he was out for three games with injury initially). Pretty clear he's not what you'd call a first team regular.
-
Yeah, my brief research has concluded he got a move to Austria (10M must be a pretty big fee for that league), couldn't hack the physicality of the league and is angling for a move back. Sounds more like trying to drum up a bit of interest in him than anything else and if can't hack the physical demands of Austria then it doesn't exactly fit the profile Spors was talking about.
-
Yeah, they signed him for about 10M + a 17.5% sell on fee so he wouldn't come cheap though.
-
So the striker appears to be Downs. I'm quite happy about that but can see why some would have reservations. Wonder who the creative midfielder is? There's not been a massive amount of links but the Besfort Zeneli one didn't seem too bad and he seems to have the ability to go past a player in a similar way to Stuart Armstrong which I think we missed last season.
