Not sure we're short at CB - we'll still have Wood, Edwards, Quarshie, Sanda. I don't think Stephens goes and can always play Bree and Taylor there too. Not a huge amount of experience mind but in terms of numbers then it's fine.

I'll tell you what's deranged. Watching Trump supporters do mental gymnastics as they shift their opinion to whatever guff comes out of his mouth and generally contradicting whatever guff came out yesterday. Free thinkers my arse, they're a bunch of fucking seals without a brain cell between them. That's deranged.

Alfie House has just said the replacement will be Key. Can't find any details on him but will try and find out more.
-
Yeah, I left out Freeman cos that seemed a bit tenuous but you're right, we have been linked. Solak said we were going to sign a striker, creative midfielder and CB. Centre back was Quarshie so that leaves the striker and creative midfielder left to do.

Kayne Kesler-Hayden too. On loan from Villa to Preston last season, did well, won the player of the year trophy and Villa want to sell him. Us and 'Boro rumoured to be interested. I'd imagine a new RB will depend on shifting Sugawara or Bree though.
-
I'm not sure Dibling goes either. We seem to holding out for top dollar on him and not sure there's many clubs that could afford to pay it and justify it right now. Of the ones we expect to go, he looks like he could be the least suited to a high energy style but if he can adjust to it then he could be a huge player for us.

To be honest I really struggled to think what could be considered a realistic price. On the one hand he does have a very good record in the championship but everyone knows he won't cut it in the premier league, there probably wouldn't be much resale value and his wages will be pretty high for this division too. You could be more accurate on the price than me. Obviously would be better to sell abroad but he probably won't have too many clubs wanting him so I think once the club makes the decision he's available then it's a case of whoever meets the valuation.
-
Cheers, yeah that makes sense. Can't be bothered to work it out but I'm guessing his PSR value to us should be pretty low. Clearly no premier league cub is going to come in for him so that'll lower his price but a 28 year old with his record in the championship should attract the more ambitious championship clubs. Maybe Brum, Wrexham or Ipswich? 8-10M kind of price I reckon should do it.

I'm ambivalent about selling or keeping Armstrong and can see both sides. Leaving aside the various merits of whether we should keep or sell, I'd be interested to know what the club value him at. Does anyone know where we stand from a PSR point of view? Now that he's completed his initial contract does anything we get for him become pure profit?

Not overly impressed, has only ever hit double figures in his career once (last season) and previous years have been pretty poor in terms of goal return both in France and Switzerland.

Just watched 28 Years Later and was a bit disappointed. It's not a particularly strong story and got a bit dull when there wasn't killing the infected action. I'm sure there's some bollocks about toxic masculinity chucked in but most of that goes over my head. Bottom line is that, as a piece of entertainment, I didn't think it delivered much and certainly the weakest of the three films.
-
Yeah, I guess Sargent although Norwich are looking for 15-20M for him and, even if that could be haggled down a bit, it's still a hefty wedge for a player who didn't do so well in the premier league and probably wouldn't again.

Yeah, the story as I understand it and been passed down from generation to generation was that McMenemy was appointed as an assistant but with the understanding that he was always going to get the managers job at some point. I'm looking forward to tales of spangles, 3 day weeks and children going on strike (or was it miners? Minors, miners, same difference).
-
Before my time but presume you could count McMenemy?

Cool, the opening salvos of the annual summer, experience vs potential debate. Personally think both sides have some merit but there’s some well shit experienced players out there as well as players with potential that will become, well, shit. Ultimately I think it comes down to the scouting and getting in the best affordable players regardless of age. There doesn’t appear to be much of a window of opportunity for young players with potential; if Downes has a breakout season next time round then he’s out of our price range in the same way we missed the boat on players like Gakpo, Hojlund and Ramos. Risk is he’s not the next in that line but the next Mara.

I had an irrational dislike for Craig Maskell when he came back. Not really sure why and if there was a reason then I’ve forgotten it but really didn’t like him. Sorry Craig.
-
Interesting speculation and, much like you, I think he'll probably leave us as his ambition outstrips what the club can reasonably expect to achieve. I think, pure speculation on my part and not ITK in any way, that he'll get us promoted as champions but will leave to star as Beaker in "Muppets: The musical".

Alan Nixon reckons us and Birmingham are in for Lewis O'Brien from Forest. 26 year old tough tacking midfielder apparently. Don't know anything about him but would seem strange given we've got Downes and Charles. YouTube from 4 years ago:

You do realise it’s a subjective opinion, right? I don’t think the latest link looks as good as the ones first leaked but even so, I don’t mind it. Definitely not hideous anyway.
-
Shirters? Have you just made that up?
-
Could be loans although I think Carvalho will probably be kept on unless there's no chance of playing a squad role. Can't see him wanting to drop a division. I reckon the West Ham fella Luis Guilherme is another that could be a realistic loan and possibly a deal similar to the Harwood-Bellis one.
-
Yep and first few games I thought he looked half decent. He's had a few more but not enough.
-
Take the money and run. He's had his chances under numerous managers and hasn't delivered. There'll always be an element of "what if?" with Sulemana because he has got talent but time to move on and let him show unfulfilled potential for someone else now.

I'm calling Wrexham at home on the Friday night.
