  1. TBH I can see why our goal against Wolves was disallowed. Harsh? Maybe, maybe not. If you're clinging to that then good luck but after 11 games, rock bottom of the league and deservedly so isn't just bad luck. I'd rather point to the areas we can control and bad luck is a card any team at the bottom can play, it only serves to deflect from the real failings. Personally I don't think either the manager or squad is good enough and I don't have any confidence that sacking Martin will result in a better manager capable of getting us out of the bottom three.
  2. If he goes to Coventry then I'm never speaking to him again.
  3. Table doesn't lie. We've played 11 games (7 of those against teams also in the bottom half, 4 of which were at home). You can argue that the squad isn't good enough, the manager isn't good enough, or both. We're not down at the bottom because of bad luck though. 19 shots at Newcastle and no goals - that's bad finishing, not luck. Three diabolical decisions against Wolves - that's wishful thinking. How about 70 odd percent possession and no shots on target? That last one is pretty damning and blaming bad luck or bad decisions is deflecting from an insipid, lacklustre and toothless performance.
  4. Something to do with the bush gore election if I recall. Up till then I don’t think they were standardised
  5. Tend to agree that calling people stupid won’t get them on your side but how do you engage better with people who still believe 2020 was stolen despite there being no evidence, or who believe the government controls the weather?
  6. Yes, same here and really been like this since the pandemic. No idea if it's because of brexit or just general supply issues but definitely seem to run out quicker and replace slower. On that subject, crisps. The range of crisps now is rubbish and the packets are getting smaller too. On it's own it's not much but taken together with everything else, it's a clear sign of decline and I don't like it.
  7. I guess that's what happens when the stock market gets infected by radical Marxists. They're bloody everywhere!
  8. I'm sure this has been mentioned many, many times but people dawdling and shuffling along whilst looking at their phones. Put your phone away, get your head up and look where you're going!
  9. Different leagues but most of his games last season were from a deeper role and, if anything, the last couple of games for us have been in a position he’s not used to
  10. What’s the team?
  11. Might want to rethink that, the local Marxist society are having a get together at the Pitcher & Piano today.
  12. This is one of the least surprising things I've read on here.
  13. Personally wouldn't have been my preferred method of raising money either and I don't think it's been handled well. However, I don't have much sympathy for the pensioners who neither need nor rely on it moaning about the loss of it.
  14. My point is that many pensioners don't need or rely on the winter fuel allowance. You're not seeing anything confiscated - the winter fuel allowance is an additional benefit and not part of your old age pension (which is still preserved). I have no idea what you're talking about with regard to people pissing against a wall - presumably pensioners are justified recipients of benefits but everyone else isn't?
  15. So you may as well have said paid for by the state which we all contribute towards. In any case, it hasn't been established whether the state is contributing towards the train drivers pay increase. Obviously it's not ideal to be taking away something from pensioners (and some are in desperate positions) but lets not get carried away with the idea that all of them are in poor financial straits. I suspect there's a large proportion of them that can afford season tickets here, in fact maybe more so than the average working person.
  16. Apparently Yuri Gagarin was quite a big fella.
  17. The train drivers deal and/or the junior doctors is paid for specifically and only by pensioners? That's simply not true.
  18. For the price I thought he was a decent signing, especially with his record for Sheff United. I'll caveat that with I thought he played centrally and I also thought he'd be back up to another new striker. If he's a starter then it's centrally or not at all because he ain't doing it wide left.
  19. Actually not a bad shout. I know it was related to the set piece fella last season but pretty sure I remember RM saying he didn't enjoy that specialist side of coaching.
  20. No, I pride myself on being down with the kids and never growing old. All my pop culture references are totally tropical, sorry, topical. Actually, yeah, I know what you mean and probably about the same age as you although I am surprised by just how much kids know about stuff before they were born. Girl at work born in '97 knows everything about Friends, Die Hard, Alien etc etc. My niece was born in 2006 and knows more about John Carpenter films than I do. Think I read/heard somewhere that although the charts have lost relevance kids are more exposed to older music than they've ever been. Sorry, that was quite a serious reply - I wandered into the muppet show by mistake.
  21. Yeah OK, but that also shows the ridiculous nature of privatising an industry and continuing to subsidise it. You could just as well argue that we're using the public purse to pay dividends to shareholders.
  22. Wouldn't the train driver deal be paid for by the franchise owner? I'm not sure on the junior doctors either.
  23. According to reuters: https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-public-sector-workers-get-above-inflation-pay-rises-worth-9-billion-pounds-2024-07-29/#:~:text=LONDON%2C July 29 (Reuters),the government said on Monday. So I assume that's the 9 billion you were talking about.
  24. Obviously the pay deals for doctors and teachers are a political choice but they were the figures recommended by the independent pay review bodies. Not 100% on this but I think the Tories had signed up to implement the recommendations of the pay review bodies as well.
  25. Fucking Marxist cats that don't respect private property - that's the problem.
