We should go for this keeper: Dayne St. Clair - Wikipedia Contract apparently expires at the end of December

Just looking at the advertising hoardings in some of those clips to see the companies associated with us at the time and how successful they have been. Northern Rock, British Steel, Sega, Today Newspaper, Bonusprint, Littlewoods stores, Homebase, Cellnet... When you look at how many goals came from proper wing play with overlapping fullbacks, strikers actually in the box, centre forward who could hold up the ball and lay it off (never really appreciated how many assists Ian Dowie had!) how I wish we would play like that again now.
-
Could it be that they have identified someone who wants to come to us, but knows without a striker and goalie they would be on a hiding to nothing? Instead they are going to hold out until nearer the transfer window so that the required players can be brought in and the new manager wouldn't have to start with several defeats?
-
Maybe we should be looking more at the manager....

I suspect we probably had someone lined up, and the board were happy with their man. Until the crowd started singing at the weekend anyway, and then the search started again when they realised GO'N wasn't a good idea.

Unless your name is Russell...

Don't forget like the last match for the last 15 minutes we were 10-0-0

It takes time to get those powerpoint presentations ready to impress the board, you can't expect them to be ready in a couple of days! Those animations don't make themselves y'know!

David Wagner?

Does make you wonder if they are getting the old band back together....

At what stage do fans stop attending home games?
lumuah replied to Mboto Gorge's topic in The Saints
I've already bought tickets for the games I can go to until Christmas. After that, who knows. I don't mind losing - I've been a supporter for long enough to know as a Saints fan I will see plenty of defeats - but what I do mind is the manner of losing. Preston had players throwing themselves at the ball to block it - one nearly gave himself concussion blocking a shot - but you can't see any Saints doing the same. Nobody busting a gut to win a ball; always second to a free ball. When the players show such cowardice it is hard to have any connection with them. On Saturday Leo put in a hard working performance and the crowd were singing his name. How many others did you hear? Sure there were some for Aribo before he was on the pitch, but once he was on - nothing. Now I just look at the club with apathy. We have a bunch of misfits who really don't seem to care, and the ones who do care lack the ability to have any influence on a game. Without a seismic shift, I can't see me going to many games next year. I'm paying to be entertained, and that simply isn't happening. -
A private jet from Corfu just landed in Southampton, make of that what you will... (Probably rich people coming back from holiday)

I wonder if that Coventry lad is looking at the sports news today and reconsidering his options

They make me glaze over

Surprised he has the energy to play football...

The keepers would be better than Bazunu though!

Last season's transfers were like glue factory rejects — they run like they’re lame, and still got put down by Christmas. Our recent striker purchases were like buying a racehorse from a car boot sale — you’re never quite sure if it’s going to run, walk, or just eat all your money! Hopefully this transfer window will see some of lame put out to pasture. I hope there is some news soon on the next thoroughbred to gallop us back to glory. Lets hope a stable transfer policy is not led by donkeys and we don't continue to lead a horse to water, pay it fifty grand a week, and still watch it drown the club’s hopes. Anyway, I hope we can stop horsing around in this thread because the lack of signings is leaving us with long faces. Without quality signings we are flogging a dead horse.

We've really not been at the races this transfer window

Any stable rumours?

As long as that is where he spends most of the season wearing that shirt, it's all good.
