So Beautiful or So What by Paul Simon - another great album from him!

Tacky? How so. The scarf is shaped like a scroll, and it puts red and white stripes into the crest. The ball is placed at the top with the scarf around it - like a scarf around a supporter's neck. And the halo is over the ball - like a halo over the head of a saint. Simple, but clever! How can you possibly find that tacky?

It always amuses me when people not only predict the goalscorers, but also give the time of the goal too. Having said that, is anyone aware of somebody ever guessing correctly the goalscorer AND the time that he scored?
-
I think the crest is wonderful. I particularly love the top part - the shape of the scarf and the football with the saint halo on top. Brilliant!

It's called reverse psychology - nervous nellies desperate to be proven wrong! Saints to win!

Terry Paine, Ron Davies, John Sydenham, Martin Chivers, Mick Channon, Alan Ball - to start with! -
"Life could be present...". Speculation that is not very useful. Think about it. To get accurate information would require travel to that solar system. The fastest manned rocket so far has been Apollo 10, travelling back from the Moon at about 40,000 km/h. The fastest unmanned probe, New Horizons, travels at about 57,600 km/h. To travel to a star-system that is 600 light years away (18,921,600,000 km) would take 473,040 years (manned), or 328,500 years (unmanned). Even travelling at the speed of light (!) would take 600 years!

Ah ... the five-pound fee is due? I don't recall being reminded of such.
-
Whereas yours is very prominent! And what's with the advertising? Does this mean there is no more 5 pound fee?

Did I miss something? Wondering why my avatar doesn't show anymore. Anyone know?

I remember him directing some excellent documentaries for the BBC in the 60s on famous composers - specifically, ones on Frederick Delius and Edward Elgar. Most of his films, unfortunately, still unavailable on DVD (at least in NA - how about the UK?).

The newspaper you prefer probably indicates how good a reader you are, how intelligent you are, and how sophisticated your world-view is. It probably indicates whether or not you have a wide interest in news (local, national and international), politics, culture, sports and entertainment. It also indicates whether or not you're interested in thinking about things and having your views challenged, or just prefer to have your biases and prejudices reinforced. Or if you just prefer to look at the pictures and scan the headlines.

Paul McCartney?

Probably - thrown in to check for cheating.

In 1968 Harold Wilson made a trip to North Africa, visiting several African leaders: one was Haile Selassie; one was Fairly Selassie; and one wasn't Selassie at all.

I was higher than the average in sense of wrongness and "disgust"; I was lower than the average in wanting to avoid, wanting to punish, and sense of anger. My most significant trait was a low level of anger.

Wie ist das wetter heute? Es ist kalt, aber nicht so kalt als im Deutschland. (First sentences I learned in first-year German course in Uni. Might be minor errors there, it was some 25 years ago!) -

Remembrance Day? I thought that was Canadian. Don't you call it Armistice Day any more?

Wow! I would have kept it, myself!
