  1. I really like the Irish accent (in the south), but dislike the Northern Irish accent. Other related topics: 1) Do you find it easier to imitate particular accents? 2) Do some accents sound better coming out of the mouth of a woman than a man?

  3. Good thread title, BTW!
  4. Meaning what?
  5. Sorry, what's your point?
  6. "The F.A. Cup with Budweiser"? "Budweiser Player of the Round"? Does the F.A. have no sense of dignity? What a disgrace!
  7. Surely the creation of team spirit (which includes the integration of new players into a settled squad) is one of NA's notable skills. He seems to really know how to generate a cohesive group. There should be no problem.
  8. ******! [starts with wan...]
  9. Sorry to interrupt the flow, but you mean Onedin, eh?

  12. Well, two of them are dead already. You simply don't like them. That's fine. But when you offered the judgments that they are over-rated, faux-angry, and aimed to please, I thought I'd respond with a different point of view.
  13. Granted - but I'm talking about the 60s/early 70s-era band. They were an early pioneer of the power-trio format - no rhythm guitar, just drums, bass and lead guitar. But what a trio - the free-form, manic drumming of Keith Moon, the assertive bass-playing of Entwhistle, and the flailing, in-your-face guitar of Pete T. As far as the material goes, I would hardly refer to Pete's writing as "faux-angry". And certainly not designed to please. He did want he wanted. His stuff is intelligent: sometimes angry, sometimes sensitive. And back in he 60s (before the the dominance of the LP), the band focused primarily on the singles market and produced a variety of very distinctive 45s.
  14. I'd like to nominate Star Wars (1977). Not because it was "the worst movie of all time", but because it marked the shift of the U.S. film industry ("Hollywood") away from a central focus on making films for grown-ups to making films for adolescents and children. A shift away from interesting stories and fine acting to films dominated by action and non-stop special effects. A shift from diegetic sound in films to non-diegetic sound - that is, OTT music and post-production sound-effects.
  15. Two: one of each.
  16. Man, you are way off today! The Who was one of the greatest singles bands ever. Get the album Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy. It was their first compilation of all the classic 60s singles. Brilliant! And Who's Next - a superb album. You're just being silly - or you've never really listened to them!
  17. Just focus on the music.
  18. Since others have selected more than one, I'll add: Rolling Stones Fairport Convention ('til Richard Thompson left) Steely Dan Neil Young & Crazy Horse Talking Heads The Kinks
  19. To the tune of Mr. Lee by The Bobbettes (1957): 1, 2, 3 (hey), it's Tadanari Lee; 2, 3, 4 (hey), look at him score; Mr. Lee, Mr. Lee, Tadanari Lee, Mr. Lee, Mr. Lee, Tadanari Lee, Mr. Lee, Mr. Lee, Tadanari Lee, Mr. Lee - ee - ee. If you're not familiar with this catchy little number, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi-qUhGHm2A&noredirect=1
  20. To the tune of Sha-La-La-La-Lee by the Small Faces: "Picked him up from the J-League, yeah, Tadanari Lee, yeah; Scoring goals he does for fun. Tadanari Lee, yeah, Tadanari Lee. "Ask him where he wants to go, Tadanari Lee, yeah; Premier League, now, go man go, Tadanari Lee, yeah, Tadanari Lee." For young ones not familiar with the tune, check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfgLrXf2pBE
  21. The Beatles are nonpareil.
  22. Oh, and I like him a lot more than "former-Saints hard-man Jimmy Case".
