Ok, missed that. Yes Ron arrived for 66/67.

and yet no mention of the greatest CF in the world. Big Ron trumps all of them combined.

Well given the change was in 1891, I imagine even you aren't that old 😉 By the way it was always colloquially called Hants which predates Southampton or Hampshire. Hants is not short for Hampshire but "Hantescire" as it was called in the Domesday Book.
-
Strictly speaking the County was called Southampton until the Local Government Act of 1891, when it was given the name Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight was made a separate County. Rumours persist that due to some oversights the name was not fully changed until 1959. Of course in 1974 Bournemouth and Christchurch were ransferred to Dorset (hence why Bournemouth are/were represented in the Hampshire Cup). Official documents (such as for example birth, marriage and death certificates prior to 1891 (and often later) nearly always refer to the County of Southampton (sometimes, rarely as Southamptonshire).

The #2 is vacant in the squad list.

Having a wel defined structure and a style of play didn't do us much good in the (recent) past. Maybe some more individualism and creativity is what we need.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
VectisSaint replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
He has 4 brothers, all under 10. Scope for a few more signings perhaps. -

50 and 40 years ago, sort of confirms my point. Agboola particularly was never that successful (at Saints), 90 apps. I remember Malc well, but like I said he signed pro over 50 years ago (74) and is nearly as old as me. -

More recently (a bit) Michael Poke probably got the closest, but in the end only made 4 apps. Played regularly for Torquay. Basically though the answer is no. We've never done particularly well with CBs either. -
Not just Danny, Rod and Ray as well.
-
Played originally on the left but later in his career moved to the right.
-
He played for the U18s (one academy team), but it's a hell of a stretch to say he is a (Saints) Academy product. He had already played in the League for Plymouth.
-
We also lost Ugochukwu (loan), Lallana (retired), probably some others, and gained BBD (if that's a gain), Edozie,.Armstrong and others?
-
That's not true. He takes a salary but donates his net income from that salary every month to a charity, allegedly. Just shows how much wealth he has that he can afford to do this.

Useful comment.

It's primarily to do with diverting medical staff away from the activities on the pitch. In the good old days St Johns Ambulance would have dealt with the situation in the crowd.

Best Foreign Born Players Playing for Saints
VectisSaint replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
Gareth Bale perhaps? He was born in Wales. -
Lowe, and some on here, completely missing the point (Lowe deliberately of course). This is a Premier League/FA initiative and presumably there is some financial incentive for clubs to create this additional coaching position. Can't blame Saints or any other club for getting an extra coach on the cheap while a knowledging that the recruitment will be on a fair and non-discriminatory basis. Obviously at each club there will be only one successful applicant, so it will be interesting to know over the whole scheme whether any diversity targets are actually met. In my view the only 'discriminatory' element should have been that the applicants were British citizens, but that doesn't seem to have been mentioned. Lowe should keep his toffee nose out of our Club's affairs and stick to being a loser.

It's an Omen I tell you.

Anyone who puts Channon 7th needs seriously arguing with, you cannot be serious. Personally will always think he was better than MLT. Also don't recall Dick van Dyke ever playing for us, not even as a sweeper. I guess youth influences your list, given it omits Steve Williams and Rod Wallace. 🫢
-
My thoughts too, after all he was given the 1st team role because of his success with the u21s. Perhaps it was what he wanted rather than stepping back.
-
Really don't think he did it often enough to be thought of in the way some do. As I said I liked him but he was frustrating when he was with us, especially when you see what he did when he left. But that wasn't really the point of my post, he is 37, and would not suit in the Championship now.
