Are you sure this is correct. I don't think the PL squad nominations affect other competitions, just the PL itself. Have you seen this mentioned as to why he is not playing?

If it was against almost anyone else I'd go for a weakened team, but we cannot afford to give Everton a confidence boost by letting them tonk us. Think we should give Stewart a go up front and ABK at CB, otherwise the team that started Saturday (but I suspect McCarthy will get a go in goal as it's the cup). I would like to see Lallana and Tyler playing together, I have visions of Bally and Steve Williams, albeit a bit further forward.

Because Lyanco, DCC and ABK were so much better. He was loaned to Boscombe where he played quite a bit and they did not get relegated. Bednarek was also loaned out. They weren't loaned out particularly because they weren't good enough, more that they didn't fit into Ralph's rather misguided plans.

You forgot Downes, though I seriously doubt he would be dropped. Seriously though it would be astonishing if changes were not made for this weekend, for our last game some new players were not even available (Fraser/Cornet), others had only been with Saints for a matter of days or a week or so, there was never likely to be major changes until after the Brentford game. Ramsdale was an exception and was not really any risk over playing AM. Otherwise only Suga and Diaz had really been integrated into the squad longish term. It would be shocking if we brought in Big Les, Fernandes, Taylor and Archer, even Lallana if we weren't going to make serious use of them. Then there is the loan/injury returnees to consider, ABK, Larios, Stewart? maybe even TP though I doubt it. No idea by the way why we signed Wood. We also have to consider Dibling, who already looks to me like he should be a nailed on starter. I expect this team to look very different to the team that came 4th in the Championship last season within the next 2-3 games, even more so if you consider THB and FD were not our players last season.

To whoever it was that doubts the staff know about or look at this forum, think this belies your belief. Clearly Martin knows the Forum well. 😉

Good news. Hope that Saints pushing the boat out for him has not had a detrimental effect on signing attackers.
