  1. Hoddle/Strachan had Premier League quality players at their disposal, Burley didn't. A comparison of managers across leagues is, in my opinion, one of the few cross-league comparisons that has any validity; it's why tables such as this http://www.leaguemanagers.com/managers/mpl-league.html are not produced for players. Top league, top players. Poor league, poor players. That said, I think Adkins is doing a better job than any other Saints manager in my lifetime!
  2. I really hate this argument; would your gran have had the positional sense to be there or the ability to have lost her marker in the box? Thought not.
  3. I noticed this and mentioned it to my mate as well. I think this is symptomatic of us winning so consistently at home (i.e. moreso than at any point in the club's post-war history); people are used to it and expect it now. When wins used to be few and far between, they were celebrated more as they were more of a novelty. Not saying it's right, it's just the way it is. Anyway, great to be a Saints fan at the moment, and long may it continue!
  4. Who is this JCL with all the banter? Fresh injection of wit, exactly what this forum's been crying out for
  5. People are quick to forget Sharpe's spell at Sheffield United, the only club of similar size to Saints he has played at in his career. He played 51 times for them in 3 years, scoring 7 goals. I'm not saying this makes him a bad player, but it should definitely be factored into any decision/bid we make
  6. Agreed, but sadly demand dictates that EastEnders is shown (I acknowledge the BBC exists to provide variety as opposed to pander to the market, but I've also thought this goal occupies a very grey area; surely each element of "variety" must be demanded in the first place?) Anyway, it's not like they're shunning the football league altogether, highlights on the website as I've already said. I'm sure you'll survive.
  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_Bridge 151 league appearances for Saints; 156 for his other clubs since he has left..
  8. I'm sure they'll still have the 2-3 minute highlight videos on their website, which I find more accessible anyway. Let's not bash the BBC on this one, I actually think they've been very good for the football league
  9. Agreed. Already above the likes of Beattie, or am I being influenced by recency?
  10. Being part of a 45 bus convoy was pretty impressive. Can anyone load up photos of us all going through Southampton and along the mortorway?
  11. This. All the wrist-slitters need to take a step back and just look at the table; their credibility when moaning is justified (i.e. when they'll be at their happiest) will be nil.
  12. gus has stormed off apparently, lol!
  13. Hmmmmm.. Like the sentiment though, and I'll be loud and proud at Fr*tton on Sunday - COYS!!!
  14. Went for Balckburn goal too, got a feeling some Bolton fans are rigging this!!
  15. New heading required, I'm on bus 7!
  16. Just to give Bart some consolation, the first incident in El Classico tonight is described on the BBC live feed as 'What an error from Victor Valdes'....
  17. That's bonkers! Thanks for sharing it though! Lovely through ball from Claus at 2:40!
  18. In a strange way I think I'd be more worried if we were battering everyone away from home going into the skate match. Football's a funny old game.
  19. It's simple: before today our lead on 3rd was 8 points, now it's 7. Rather than dwell on the fact our lead has been cut (as some of the wrist-slitters seem to enjoy doing), let's acknowledge how well we've done to get to this position. Negativity breeds negativity, or is that concept too deep?
  20. Positivity, it's a concept some would struggle to understand
  21. (maybe 5) - why not?? We're a newly promoted side FFS!
  22. We're top of the league, and we deserve to be there after 20 games having been promoted from a lower league last season. Ever tried looking at the bigger picture?
  23. Just equalised against skates, legend
  24. Fair points, although Lallana seems to have gone through a very quiet spell lately (for him!), left Fox very exposed at Bristol City last weekend. Hopefully his goal Tues will get him going again, terrific player.
  25. If it was the HIV/Aids chant (or something similar), then I think the punishment is justified. If it's one of the holding hands/here for the shopping/up the bum etc chants, then it's ridiculous!
