Yes, every manager fails but it should still be taken into account when considering his managerial history. Big no thank you from me. He's done the job I'd have expected any competent manager to do, which he is. Again, not saying he's terrible. Just not the Messiah that the media make him out to be.
-
I feel like every single transfer rumour in history, no matter what level has always ended with the phrase "West Ham are also interested"
-
He's usually got a point with most things he says, just expresses them like a total bellend.
-
Did a good job at Bournemouth. No one's denying that. Gets linked with about 3 jobs, affirms interest in all of them, especially Palace which he basically begged to join No bugger wants him so comes out and 'commits his future' to Bournemouth and says how he was never leaving and how much he loves the club etc 3 days later, goes to Burnley Spectacularly fails Returns to Bournemouth whom, in his absence have continued to improve massively Gets promoted (good achievement) Last season in the PL spends ridiculous cash and gets relegated with one of the worst defences ever Publicly implies he's waiting for Ralph to get sacked so he can walk in and take over because he's a shoe in Goes to Newcastle, spends their biggest ever transfer budget and hey presto they're doing well He isn't a terrible manager by any means but his "rags to riches" story is nothing like the media portray it and he's an utter cretin in 'real life'. Don't buy his Mr Nice Guy persona because that's another one of his frauds.
-
Yes please. I don't want Ralph out but if Poch was available and wanted to come back, I'd chop Ralph.
-
No we didn't. He's an utter fraud of a manager and right nasty piece of work. I'd genuinely rather bring back Harry Redknapp than have that smarmy little b4astard anywhere near our club.

£100M plus a suitable replacement
-
Johnstone will be 33 by then! 😮

I mentioned on another thread - Michael Cooper of Plymouth Argyle. Only 22 years old and narrowly missed out on getting into the team of the year. Regular clean sheets and shows experience he doesn't have. I'm biased because I live in Plymouth so I watch him fairly regularly but he really could be a decent back up/understudy to whoever is going to be our number one next season.

Krul isn't having a good time. In general, I've been a big fan over the years but maybe him? I honestly don't think there are many worse than Forster either. Forster is better than McCarthy but if that's our benchmark, we're in trouble.
-
I didn't mean literally Wigan, I meant someone like that. Top of League One or bottom of The Championship. Amos is a very good keeper at that level though tbf. The Plymouth keeper is very good too. I can't remember his name but he's only 21 or something.
-
Who would we prefer out of Henderson or Johnstone? I'd go Hendo but seems to be a real 50/50 split with our fanbase. I'm not saying it will definitely be one of them btw, just curious about which one everyone would prefer if it were a straight choice.
-
Personally I'd rather be paid to sit around doing nothing at Southampton than go and be a star man at say Wigan, which is probably about the level that McCarthy would end up at if he left. Players are employees. Nothing more, nothing less.
-
If that's the case then I'll concur with you but I don't for one minute believe it is. You also have to consider the fact that Forster has had a torrid time with us over the last 5 years or so and there's a good chance he wants to move whereas McCarthy is probably happy to play second fiddle and stay with us.
-
Well we're getting a new number one so which one do you want sat on the bench getting paid to do nothing? They're both utterly dreadful (it's just that Forster gets away with it week after week and McCarthy is ridiculed for every single little thing that goes wrong)
-
I suggest watching some of the games around Christmas time. Also Leeds at home, he put in a better performance than I've EVER seen from the other two.
-
I appreciate that. As an autistic person, I often jump to 'extremes' and struggle with context. Point taken.
-
Any game COULD have been double figures. The fact is, it wasn't double figures. It was 6. Awful score line, awful performance but United COULD have scored 4 or 5 in the 76 cup final but they didn't.

Salisu is clearly quality just having a bad patch. Get him a new contract now IMO. Even in this poor form ,he's better than Beg and Stephens.
-
I'm guessing this is a wind up? Let's just say that's true (it clearly isn't) then that's a heck of a "one thing" to have in your arsenal! Sometimes a player does one thing so well that it's worth having him for just that one thing. Again though, that's clearly not the case with JWP, just thought I'd take this troll comment at face value.
-
Never rated Valery at all until he was converted to CB. I'm much more comfortable having him as CB cover than RB cover.
-
I disagree. He's not CL quality for sure but he's certainly not dreadful either. If Tino is going to be out for a long time then I'd take AWB for a sensible fee.
-
Tbh I'm not sure formations really exist in the PL (and to a lesser extent The Championship) because of all the pressing and moving that goes on these days. Take KWP, how often is he actually in the RB position (or LB if he's playing there)? He's all over the shop (in a good way)
-
My United supporting friend said yesterday to say that he'd quite happily pay £100 Million plus Lingard and Wan-Bissaka for JWP. He did specify that won't happen because Lingard is out of contract soon so wouldn't be involved in a transfer like that but that just shows how highly other clubs' fans rate him! Tbf I'd be tempted by that offer.

Tbf football has been about money since the 50's. Brian Clough alluded to it in the 60's so this whole thing about it being a modern mark on the game is non-sense. I know that you didn't say or even imply that but that seems to be the consensus. The fact is, football is a business, club's are franchises, players are employees and fans are customers. That's just the way it is and in many ways, the way it should be.
