  1. Boom - Just purchased 4 but never thought I'd have to be in a virtual queue to get tickets to a fourth round FA Cup game with Coventry! Don't think I even had to to do that when getting my Inter Milan ticket.
  2. Is this like when people guaranteed Cork wouldn't be sold because he's best mates with Bertrand? Also, not sure why everyone's getting excited about the prospect of Deli Alli. He's technically better than what we have now admittedly because he's got some serious talent but his attitude stinks, he spends most of his time on the floor and he just generally comes across a bit of a dick. With that in mind, would he improve us? I'm not sure. If Poch, Mourinho and Conte can't motivate him I don't see what Ralph can offer in this situation. Also there's the wages, even if we shared them with Spurs they'd still be ridiculous - No thank you.
  3. I've yet to see a transfer rumour, in all my time as a football fan that hasn't ended with "West Ham are also interested in the player"
  4. Only when they come from our academy. The anger that was directed toward the club when Sims, Hesketh and Gallagher were realised was embarrassing and as per, time has proved the club right. Our academy is the victim of it's own success in a way because every player that comes through it, people insist on getting chance after chance after chance in the hope they're going to be the next Gareth Bale, even when it's quite obvious (as it was for a long time with the aforementioned trio) that they're just not good enough. It stunts their development too. There's probably some that are still insisting Jason St Juste get given a 'fair chance'
  5. Apart from Dave Merrington, who confronted him, spoke up and did everything he possibly could to prevent/stop the abuse and that's backed up by some of the victims and other youth players at the time. As I said above, he's the only person who comes out of this looking good.
  6. I think with what happened, everyone in a position of power (and therefore trust) at the club at the time needs to take some responsibility. I'm not saying remove the statue but let's be honest, the one and only person to come out of this horrible situation with any kind of credit is Dave Merrington (other than the victims obviously). Everyone else is discredited. With that being said, is there any evidence that Bates ignored these allegations? If not, I don't agree with removing his legacy just because they happened to be associated with the club at that time.
  7. Anyone know if we still need Covid passports? I lose track. I know they've been scrapped as a rule but it's implied that business' can still operate with them if they want to.
  8. SOUTHAMPTON FC | First Team Fixtures 2019/20 | Southampton FC Finally ticket info. EDIT: Ignore my original comment, got the dates mixed up and thought they were going on general sale 2 days before the game.
  9. Have other clubs put their FA Cup tickets on sale or is it just us taking forever? As per...
  10. I don't think they're similar at all. With Toby, we had a binding agreement that they went back on. With Broja, there is no argeement and Chelsea are well within their legal and moral rights to tell us where to go and (as far as we know) haven't misled us at all.
  11. I dunno about Tadic but Betrand definitely took them frequently. I think I remember Classie taking a few and trying to go under the wall. Redmond actually took a few in pre-season and did surprisingly well.
  12. I think the issue with the penalty is that it was not given, then given as a 'clear and obvious error'. Had that been given straight away, VAR looked at it and then NOT overturned it, I don't think we could really have any complaint. It's one of those "seen them given, seen them not" kinda things. Also Forster...Just wow. Imagine if McCarthy had conceded that. He'd be publicly flogged. Utterly laughable how anyone thinks he's a decent keeper and better than McCarthy and for the record, I think they're both awful. But Forster is just that little bit extra sh1t.
  13. I can't imagine anyone but their local rivals (Leicester?) disliking Coventry. They're a good club with a good set of fans and they've always conducted themselves very well through all the bad times they've had. Can anyone make a guess at when tickets are likely to go on general sale? Been quite some time since I got to a cup game! Ipswich at home I think was the last one I personally brought a ticket for and that was under Koeman!! Edit: Sorry, just seen the question asked above
  14. Ralph is clearly the best manager we're going to get without fear of a big team poaching him. Totally baffling that anyone wanted him gone. Not perfect by any means but a great fit for us.
  15. Anyone else struggling to get Solent on the OS?
  16. What did he say?
  17. Yes, I've met him a number of times at various Church/Christian events and he is a great man of God however with regards to preaching, I did ask him if he ever does it for his church (Testwood Baptist I think) and he joked "Only if they really can't find anyone else!" One of the things that came across in one of the 'faith and football' talks I've seen him do is the dislike he has for Rupert Lowe. He didn't actually say it but it was plain to see. Also it's hard to say that anything good could come out of that horrific story that broke a couple of years ago with the youth team coach and the boys that were abused but it must be said, Dave's character shone through as per - It seemed like Dave was the only one who wanted to do anything about it and took it seriously. Lovely, lovely man. Link below to one of his Christian testimonies, even if you're not interested in hearing the religious stuff, the first ten minutes is well worth a watch for him talking about the club. Thursday 14th- When you can't sit on the fence? with Dave Merrington - YouTube
  18. Bertrand linked with Swansea lol EDIT: Also linked with Chelsea. Stanger pair of clubs to be linked with.
  19. As much as I'd love that I don't think it's even remotely realistic for a number of reasons. Apart from anything, the new owners have said they basically want to follow the current strategy - Sign kids, develop them, flog them. On that note, I see that we've been linked with Rory Delap's son Liam (who was born at the time his dad was at Saints to make everyone feel old). Have we ever had a father-son play for us? I feel like we have but can't quite place who they are. Not counting the likes of Sonny Davis who played in Kelvin's testimonial (and is also in our academy).
  20. Didn't Markus buy us for £6 Million? Half the price that we'd sell Chamberlain for a couple of years later? Also, with regards to this Brentford guy, what will be his role if the Serbian guy is the main funder? Is the ex-Brentford guy like the Cortese of this takeover?
  21. Adam Blackmore @AdamBlackmore · 5m If you are a Southampton fan, I would suggest you might want to be listening to @BBCRadioSolent from 4pm, for a major announcement regards ownership and analysis on that announcement #SaintsFc I will be on air with @louhannan discussing the news …
  22. I'll reserve judgement. Sometimes it's better the devil you know.
  23. I thought Walcott was decent today. Not usually a fan but off the ball, he did what was asked of him and kept the defenders on their toes. Probably JWP's best game of the season and as for Broja - Wow what a player! I must admit, I thought Kevin Friend did okay today! He had a lot of decisions to make, hardly any time to make them but generally officiated at a steady and consistent pace, let a lot go, admittedly but for both sides. Not my favourite referee in general but credit where credit is due. How anyone thinks Forster is better than McCathy is totally amazing. No command over his penalty era, flapped at everything, kicking is the worst I've ever seen. Also, why was their equaliser checked for so long? Clearly onside and even I'd have been baffled if that was disallowed - Get on with it.
  24. Season 1: Best LB in the league Season 2: One of the top four best LBs in the league Season 3: Quite good, dependable but nothing special Season 4: Hardly match fit, mistakes creeping in. Season 5: Lazy, unmotivated, never looked like he could be arsed. Season 6: Utter garbage Season 7: Taking this season in isolation, possibly one of the worst players we've had since returning to the PL.
  25. They did nothing...Except score the same amount of goals as us. So I'm just struggling to figure out how they didn't deserve anything from the game.
