Did not read that in the Times.. it's a FA Ruling that covers any circumstances of a league club withdrawing from the FAPL, AND /OR Football League. The only effect it will have is that we would gain the extra club from the Conference. That way the number of promotions is not effected, only relegation. Short of drawing a diagram for you GM, is there any other way it can be explained that Pompey's demise wouldn't make a jot of difference to us.. other than to cause major humour at the irony of it all.

If the Premier League 'lost' a club only 2 would be relegated, not 3. The same for all subsequent leagues downwards.. and only one club would get relegated to the Conference

The statement by Pards is not a deliberate lying. He made that statement at about the same time Puncheon signed. HE WAS ASKED IF HE HAD FINISHED IN THE TRANSFER MARKET NOW, and said yes knowing we already had a live bid in for the Palace player. He isn't going 'we have but there still a bid in for Danns that we're waiting for answer, is he? He'll alert a rival bid. No, he meant he is not going for any new targets IMO Danns is not a new target, in fact we first enquired about him when we signed Fonte.. Followed it up with a bid which Palace turned down. They have put in a 2nd bid for Danns of Palace this morning, and are not actively chasing up on their Puncheon bid, which has been accepted by Plymouth. Also, they are favourites to get Scott Arfield after Preston pulled out of the bidding war for the Falkirk ace. Arfield would be available both in the FA Cup and JPT. Should they get Danns, who will also be available for them in the JPT, they may withdraw from the Puncheon chase. If Pardew succeeds with these two bids, it's felt he would not be prepared to 'haggle' with MK DONS over Puncheons release from his loan contract.
