For expats - viewing highlights in the EU
Boris Karloff replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I'm not sure about that. We certainly don't have a 1.5m dish. It's smaller than the one we had in the UK, and we pick it up loud and clear. You have a few more mountains though! Have you looked at Freesat? We use our old skybox and card and we don't pay anything and get the equivalent of Freeview. -
But everyone on this site is a hardcore footy fan, otherwise they wouldn't be on here. The Beeb is only trying to cater for everyone. I know my wife for starters would probably not watch it if it was just non-stop highlights for an hour or more.

Unless it's wall-to-wall Saints, people on here are going to complain. They show plenty of football. Claridge is generally fairly concise and through showing very few replays they show a lot of stuff. I could do without all the email stuff, but I'd rather the football was broken up a bit with stuff like the Mark Clement links.
-
I think it's ok. I don't even mind Claridge, he knows the teams pretty well and knows what he's on about. At least they give fairly even coverage to all three divisions.
-
What's happened to Paterson? Can't he even make the bench now?
-
Given the dross that's down there, it may well be a shoot-out between Pompey, Wolves, Hull and Burnley and somewhere around 30 points may keep them up. I think though that they will need to get a good run going somewhere to stay up and to do that they may need a couple of good results against the big boys.
-
He does have a bit of a point about being shoved out last season. But I don't really believe the point about no contract being there. I think it was probably there all along he just chose not to sign it.
-
Shame. I think they may have done it with Pothas in
-
How has he messed us around? The club would have set him a time deadline to make his mind up and there's no evidence to suggest he didn't stick to it. If the club wanted an answer within 24 hours they would have asked for it. We don't really know what's gone on, he might well have said to AP, it's highly unlikely, but the club have put a positive spin on it so not to affect other negotiations or ST sales.
-
Oh dear. We are starting to look very weak up front. Saga and Rasiak don't seem to be interested either, so hopefully we can clear up their future soon and get in at least two new forwards soon.
-
Exactly, Didn't the judge say the whole case was a disgrace? To think all the things DJ and his family had to go through and yet there are still idiots out there that write such c**p.
-
Might as well, every other Saints player goes there.
-
I've met SCW oin several occasions as he used to do some training where I worked. I'm not in any way surprised that he found it difficult to fit in in football.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... Please not Tony Adams. He can take his psycho babble and stick it where the sun don't shine.
-
Can't believe MLT would want to have Hoddle as manager.
-
Yep, I think that is one of the things that worries me most about Pinnacle. The whole PR handling of this has been a disaster. They must have known people were going to look into his background, so why didn't they release a full profile of him, detailing where he has made his money? If they can't handle simple PR like this then they're not going to be able to run a football club.
-
Reading in between the lines of their statement, is there something more to it? Are the FL worried that if we won an appeal we could then claim that the announcement of an incorrect points deduction at such a sensitive time of the season destabilised the club and contributed to our relegation. Is this what they are worried about?
-
I read that as the football league not believing that any appeal would be resolved before the start of the 2010-11 season. Why would it take that long?
-
If that is the case, why are they worried about us appealing. If the rules have been applied correctly surely their attitude should be "welcome to the league, appeal if you want to".
-
Exactly. It would be much fairer if there was a hearing and clubs were able to prove that at least they tried to manage the club prudently. As much as everyone hates Lowe, I do believe he was trying to reduce the debt last season. I don't think the club could have done much more other than raise the white flag at the start of the season.
-
I don't agree with points deductions, so I don't think we deserve -10 points. The thing with going into administration is that the people responsible for getting the club in that predicament always go. So who is punished? Just the fans. And as for the FL stopping us from appealing. Whose interests are they serving from doing so? I think most other FL clubs wouldn't begrudge us the right to appeal I think most fans would want all clubs to start a season on 0 points. If we broke the rules then I guess we start on -10. If the FL couldn't get the rules right in the first place, that's their fault.

What a Shame we were never treated as fans

Risk/gamble. The problem was that Lowe's arrogance meant that not only did he bring in a manager unproven in this country, it also meant that Lowe dictated the transfer policy. If he'd stuck with Pearson and said to him that he had to make savage cuts to save money, but he would have control over those cuts, it might well have worked. -

It's too simple to say that. This forum used to be so much better than it is now; it used inclusive, not exclusive. It used to be light-hearted at times, it used to be thought-provoking, but now it is losing all that. Soon all you'll be left with is the bitter minority. -

But that's the whole point. Football threads soon descend into Lowe Out threads. I would be happy if there were threads about what's happening on the pitch and threads about what's happening off the pitch. It's just every single thread descends into Lowe Out. Great, Lowe Out, I agree, but let's not have it in every single post. -

I used to check by every day, now it's once every week or so. I'm not a fan of Lowe, but I'm bored that every single post descends into Lowe Out. I can understand why, but it has ruined the board and I would much rather it was football-based than Lowe-based.
