  1. To be fair, without Romeu we have such a short side. We have two players over 6ft. It's pretty easy to defend against when you know we are looking for someone whose name starts with Jan.
  2. You just know Adams is going to cut in on his right foot. Opposing teams must know it too. Has he ever used his left foot?
  3. It was the right decision. But why does he take so long to blow his whistle? He was taking all the time in the world and showing no urgency. Surely refs should be trying to keep the game moving and not slow it down?
  4. I think JWP could be crucial with his set piece delivery because of the relative height of the teams. Apart from Mertersacker (who ducks anyway) and Koscielny Arsenal have nobody tall. If we have set pieces with Toby, Maya, Fonte, Pelle and Vic in the box we will have a big height advantage over them and they have conceded a lot of set pieces already this season.
  5. I've thought this would be a good idea for a long time. It would probably have to be coupled with a rising number of first team games they must have played the previous season, otherwise it would leave kids who aren't getting any games stuck. It would also probably have to be coupled with ruling that they could move to a team in a league above otherwise it would discourage kids from joining teams like Crewe.
  6. My theory is that Cortese wanted NA to resign and made life almost impossible for him but he still refused. NA may even have threatened him with constructive dismissal. This would explain the lack of thanks and general mess Cortese made of the change.
  7. He missed Lallana today. He clearly like players to be close to him and lots of movement around him. Rickie was very static today and the partnership with Gaston and Rickie was not great. There was way too much distance between the two at all times. He does seem a little naive at times though. For example, with 10 seconds left on the clock he just had to lump it into the box, not play that way too clever ball in.
  8. Is Liverpool away the only game it will be used in? If it isn't used at West Ham, I can't think of another league game.
  9. I think we will do alright in this one. I was at the Arsenal Sunderland game and they were pretty hopeless. If you stop Carzola playing you seem to stop the team. Gervinho can be a threat but is very unpredictable. I think the way we play with three strong midfielders in MS, SD and JWP/AL/JC will help stop them playing. They have Carl Jenkinson playing who is a Championship defender at best so hopefully we will create something up front.
  10. Why does everyone hate him so much? Is it because he goes out a lot? His performance was much better than Bart's against Blackpool yet Bart didn't get so much stick. I'm not defending him, just curious.
  11. One difference between the Spanish and German teams and England is that their national teams spot young talent and bring them into the main fold a lot earlier. Then these players move on to big clubs. The like of Khedira, Ozil, Mata, Silva were all playing in their national team before they got their big move. In England the national team wait until the players move on to the big clubs before they are considered. Unfortunately for AL he will have to have an incredible season to get considered because he's not playing for a big club.
  12. I agree his passing could improve, but I think he will have a good season next year. Every team is going to attack us and he could find he has a little more space, especially if NA goes for the diamond a bit more. The thing with AL is you realise how good he is when he is out of the side. We always really miss him. He constantly gives an outlet in midfield and the ball sticks with him, which is something you can't say about Ashley Young. He helps the team play through midfield and that's something England were lacking last night. I'd love to see him in the England team.
  13. I think we'll need to agree to disagree. That was pretty much my point, it's OK in the lower leagues but it's going to put a lot of pressure on the forwards and Lallana if CM don't score in the prem as we won't get so many from corners and set pieces. But is it so much the way we play anyway? It's not as though he hasn't had chances, he's had plenty, they just never seem to hit the target.
  14. But he is generally the more forward playing midfielder of the two and he hasn't scored a single goal. That's terrible. He hasn't set up many either. If he plays with Morgan or Hammond we have two central midfielders who are good at breaking up the play but hardly ever score and very rarely play a killer ball. In the Prem we can't rely on long balls to the far post to Lambert, it just won't work. We're going to need more from cm going forward and for me I would keep Morgan and ditch Cork, even if he is good at intercepting!
  15. Agree with most, but not the striker. We have enough up front at the moment. The real problems are in midfield. Apart from AL and Morgan we have nobody who is good enough. Hammond huffs and puffs but is just about Championship level and Cork looks pretty, but does sweet FA. Between Cork, Hammond and Morgan we have three league goals all season. It's simply not good enough. cork and Hammond have not got many assists either. Look at Norwich and Swansea they have goals from everywhere. We won't get so many from Jos next year as corners will be defended better in the Prem, so I'd really like to see a CM who can get a few goals.
  16. The store really does let the club down. We went in on about the 6th December to buy a kids home kit for Christmas. They had no children's shirts in the run up to Christmas. If this wasn't bad enough they then sighed and said "we're expecting them in aroudn the 22nd but we don't know if we can get them to you in time". There was no offer to take my number, keep me informed, etc. In the end we just didn't get one. Likewise the whole you can come into our shop and pay £100+ yet if you dare to spend more than 20 minutes doing so we'll fleece you for the parking is just ridiculous. Next year it could be Premier League football with Blue Sq South Megastore.
  17. Disappointing. At the end of the day we missed Morgan who can dicatate the game better. It is worrying how easily we get picked off against the good sides though. Fonte hasn't been great all season and was really poor for their third. Chaplow also did absolutely nothing. If we go up we need a faster central defender and we need to sort out RM. It's all a bit of a mess at the moment.
  18. Terrible performance, but I don;t think Sharp's performance was as bad as some on here. Was called offside incorrectly at least twice which made a difference. He plays on the shoulder of the last defender and when the linos give the benefit of doubt to the defenders it is probably going to affect him. More worryingly were the performances of others. Butterfield was dreadful. Are Jos and Jose going to be too one paced for the Prem? Cork seems to have lost all his fizz since the start of the season and right midfield is a real problem. IF we go up I think NA will be looking for a new RB, CM, RM and CM but will probably leave the forwards alone.
  19. If he does play Jos, he's not going to leave Martin off the bench. Fox can cover if necessary but against the threat in the air of Jay-Rod it would be taking a risk.
  20. Can someone please explain why Barnard came on when we were 2-1 up? I just can't understand that decision. He obviously had it lined up, but could easily have changed his mind. He could have taken Lee or SDR off and put JWP on just to shore things up. Just doesn't make any sense at all to me.
  21. No, I don't think so. I'm a little surprised he hasn't featured more in the cup games, but he's not huge for his age and although skillful I'm not quite sure defensively he's ready for the first team and it could do him more harm than good at the moment.
  22. I would be surprised if more than a couple of players make i out of that group. Shaw and JWP are quality although JWP had a bit of a mixed performance. Jack Stephens is a big lad and had a good run at the end. He does look good but too often just played a ball inside without really looking. The two centre halves weren't great. Mugabi looked indecisive and Turnball just doesn't have any pace to cut it at a higher level. As for the others up front, there were nice touches but nobody seemed to have a killer instinct. Too many touches were taken and when a good opportunity arose it normally ended up in row Z. Compare that with Bamford for Forest who only had about 5 chances and buried 4 of them. I quite liked Omar Rowe when he came on. He was a bit more direct when he came on and didn't take any stick off the Forest defenders. But it wasn't a terrible performance, they just had a couple of lads who were a bit too big and a bit too good. Bamford is quality and as is often the case at this age, one really good forward can make a big difference.
  23. I think Maynard will go on the last day of the transfer window. He's just holding out for the most money. City are resigned to losing him, so the fee won't be that much, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't go to a lower Prem club. Only thing is, apart from QPR I don't think that many have much money.
  24. Looking at comments from some of the Spurs fans they all seem to like him despite being slightly underwhelmed by his Europa Cup performances. Hopefully he will find the games in the Championship a little more open than the Europa Cup where most of the teams just parked the bus against Spurs and he was playing in a team which was a mix of first-teamers, reserve players and youth who won't have played much together.
