  1. I don't agree. This is how City play against most teams. They were maybe more intense last week but it was a derby. Last week everything was around the front three and KDB. Cancelo played very deep. This week he played more like a winger. Maybe that's because we let him, but it's hardly a sign of a lack of ambition on City's part.
  2. After early stages very little has come down their right side. It's all been down their left. He's defended well and has tried to get forward.
  3. ABK, Salisu and Perraud have all done well. The rest have all been very average.
  4. Trying to be positive...... They are in the middle CL games and will rotate for this one and may even rest Haaland. If they don't, ABK will have played against Haaland in Germany and doesn't seem like the type to shirk a challenge. Their back line does give away free kicks and it's about time JWP popped one in. Our record against City is pretty good. If we play all our ex City players it might confuse them (ok, am struggling a bit now!) But, I'm looking forward to it. Got nothing to lose. It won't be a cricket score. They tend to get to 6 and declare like on Sunday.
  5. Was shocked by how poor AMN was. Don't know if the early booking affected him but spent rest of the game strolling around doing nothing. We were vastly improved after he went off. That position is a real problem for us when Lavia is out.
  6. I don't really understand JWP's ommision. Bellingham and Rice are definitely going. But if Phillips isn't fit and Henderson seems to be always injured these days, it would have been good to keep JWP close to the squad because there really isn't much depth in that position.
  7. It summed it up when their DM went off injured and they replaced him with a DM that they turned down a £30m bid from Arsenal for. Our DM goes off and we don't even have a replacement on the bench. Who'd have thought at the start of the season that Lavia would become one of our most important players. But we shouldn't be relying so heavily on an 18 year old.
  8. In defence of Ely, he is the only player we have who tries to play passes forward. His pass to Adams (where Adams should have scored) was the pass of the match. Last week he played the pass through to Mara where he was offside. Against Leeds he played the pass to Armstrong that almost put him through. Nobody else we have makes these passes.
  9. We were so sloppy in the first half. Not sure Ralph will like Mara's pressing, he seemed to just meander about when they had the ball. He needs to work on his hold up play too, very little stuck to him. I thought Leicester were good in the first half. Very calm in possession. Barnes gave KWP quite a few problems. I'm surprised BR didn't swap him with Perez to have a go at Djenepo. But Saints were a totally different side after going behind.
  10. If Adams is off and was clearly not going to play on Saturday, what was the point of having him on the bench? Surely better to have Mara on the bench to get used to being part of squad and at 4-1 down there would have been nothing to lose in giving him 10 minutes.
  11. Was half joking, but OK the lack of water on the pitch didn't stop the conference team with 4 trialists from scoring twice against a championship side.
  12. We didn't score because they don't water the pitch. That didn't stop QPR from scoring 8 (eight) on the same pitch on Wednesday!
  13. But harsh. Could make a case that JWP, KWP, Salisu, S Armstrong and even Romeu have all improved. All been rubbish lately, mind.
  14. It's tiring watching Adams give up really good chances because he has no faith in his left foot. He created the chance in the first half brilliantly then tamely flicked it with the outside of his right, when every other forward would have slotted home with his left.
  15. I thought we were OK. Like many have said, we didn't put any pressure on Shelvey for their first and then Bednarek on his heels again gave them a half chance for the second. Apart from that they did very little. After their second they stuck 11 men behind the ball and we struggled. I don't think Broja is very good in these situations. He needs to be cuter at trying to find space and Armstrong's movement was much better when he came on. In the first half KWP was having a lot of joy but in the second they doubled up on him and gave him no space at all. It meant a lot came through Tino on the right and he didn't do much with it. Would have been better to bring on Perraud and move KWP to the right. Hopefully, a learning opportunity. Because we haven't fallen behind too much lately we haven't had too many teams stick 11 men in their own half and we really struggled to create. None of the players had a real stinker. I thought JWP seemed to be a bit sluggish and was playing very deep all night. His corners were very average too.
  16. I thought there was some truth in what Carra and Neville said, but are they all better sides? Take Spurs, obviously we'd take Kane and Son in a heartbeat but I can't think of anyone else in that team that would improve ours very much. A lot of them just have bigger reputations and transfer fees. West Ham, Man U and Wolves, I'd probably say half their teams would get into ours on current form, Arsenal a little more and the other three are a different matter. We won't get into the European places, but that's simply because we're just too far behind and other teams have played fewer games.
  17. Will have to disagree with that one. If he had a left foot that would have been in the back of the net.
  18. I like Che but he has to be the most one-footed player I've ever seen. I'm not sure if I've ever seen him use his left foot. This may be a by-product of not coming through an academy where coaching staff would have worked on it. I just think if he could use his left foot there would be a few more goals. For example, on Saturday JWP floated a lovely ball in that was begging to be volleyed with his left but he had to take it with the outside of his right which meant he had to adjust his body shape and couldn't get any power on it and Pickford easily gobbled it up.
  19. Aaargh. They really are a horrible side. Every time they foul someone they pretend to be injured. Constantly in the ref's ear.
  20. Great win. Salisu was a monster today. Tino played well and we look so much more dangerous with Broja in the side.
  21. To be fair most of our players are short and any that aren't were in the wall.
  22. People on here are so pathetic with the "he gave Klopp a hug" rubbish. What do you want him to do? Stare at him and refuse to shake his hand bc we lost? He might be seething inside and go in and give the players hell, but he can't raise a smile for the winning manager? I really don't think Saints lost today because Ralph gave Klopp a hug. Get over it and find something else to moan about.
  23. I will give Ralph a pass on this one. I guess the thinking of having 3 up was to keep TAA and Robertson from playing so high up. Worked to an extent with TAA. But going behind so early didn't help. Broja looked lively and much as I love Oriol, for the second week running he hasn't been the best at tracking Beck with runners and against Liverpool you get punished.
  24. Not any of the goals? For the second game running he made no attempt to save a fairly tame shot for the second. For the third he was slow off his line and then left a space wider than the Mersey Tunnel at his near post. He might as well have pointed to Rice where he should shoot.
  25. He can't shoot though, can he? It's so rare that he gets his shots on target. I think most people would rather he passed if all we ever get is row Z.
