  1. I think the guy you are talking about is the minder and driver for the youth team. I have seen him many times at Staplewood. The guy who used to collect the balls at The Dell and lay out the kit was a guy called Barry Small.
  2. Well the club was originally known as Southampton St Marys and its the same club now as was called then so IMO you are totally wrong.
  3. I would just love it...if for once we had a manager and board that sanctioned moves for players that suit the division we play in. No Gasmi, Schneiderling, Smith namby pamby style we need good solid honest giant centre halves, a mobile kicker in midfield, pacey wingers and a lump up front for Paterson and McGoldrick to feed off. We have no pace or aggression in our first or reserve teams that will get us up. I have wanted us to buy someone like Andy Bishop from Bury for a couple of years instead of the likes of the above mentioned players. He cannot be on big wages or cost a lot and run us ragged the other year at SMS.
  4. Survival on the pitch or boardroom and shareholding?
  5. Hows your conscience Charlie http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.showNews.php?id=19165 Having spent a bloody fortune this year watching complete wasters both on the pitch and off it mine is great and I dont need someone telling me otherwise. I did not contribute but having bought 2 ST's, shirts, beer, food , occasional programmes at home game this year I dont feel obliged to and coming from the Saints Trust that have hidden for most of the season and allied to to the main problems feel its a bit rich.
  6. We would also need a quick wide man and wide mid fielders...which when you look at our side yesterday the only one with pace is Bradley who can't finish his dinner! Lloyd, Skacel, Surman, Lallana, Wotton, Euell and to some extent McGoldrick are all one pace and cannot burst past defenders that has been our problem this season and only McLaggon briefly showed the way until getting injured. I never count Dyer because the programme sellers took more of a battering than defenders. As I said great pundit not so good manager.
  7. Agreed Nick..we have had enough of the amateurs giving it a go like Wigley, Gray, Poortvliet, Dodd and that is one of the reasons we are in the mess we are. Armstrong is a very good pundit and knows the game well..that does not make him a good manager. I was listening to him on the way home and he was calling it right IMO especially when they had the temp goalie....why were we taking outswinging corners? It should of been Surman or Skacel putting it under his chin with Size all over him. Lets get the club saved first then decide if Wotte stays or not, personally we need someone that has experience of the Leagues we are going to play in not where we want to get to. Lets get a manager that can buy/loan in players that suit the division not namby pamby ones like Smith, Gasmi, Schneiderling. Boothroyd and Pardew know these leagues well whether we can afford them or even Widdrington(no idea whwere this comes from) is still to be decided.
  8. I had a chat with John Salako in the beer queue yesterday...nice bloke and we got chatting about our problems and if I thought we would survive etc. I mentioned the council rumours about buying the stadium and leasing it back but he said he was chatting to Bournemouth guys the other week and they thought thats what started their problems selling the ground to a developer? Personally I think its a great option for the city and club as where else in this city do we have a venbue that can hold concerts, religious festivals( I remember the JW used to hire out the Dell), meetings etc we could even have a temporary ice rink at certain times of the year. I didnt realise he was at Palace for as long as 12 years...he had just interviewed Warnock and Wotte and realised how stressful management was !
  9. It was great getting 3 points but Palace were woeful and disinterested for most of the game. BWP battled really well and highlighted how our lack of pace in other members of the team mean we are limited in attacking options. Shame his finishing is so poor. I was shocked at taking Euell off as I would of put Saga on as well as we needed the 3 points but we hung on at the end. Could be too little too late but at least we showed some fight today for a change. Perry, Size, Skacel and Lloyd did well today and 3 points at Wednesday next week just may rekindle some more belief. Lallana was far better today and about time as he has contributed nothing since Christmas. MOM the crowd who were superb.
  10. I am very surprised that the official figure was 23k especially as the tickt booth in The Marland said they had nearly sold out. I thought the atmosphere was superb today in the Kingsland/Northam end - having the corner filled in really helps the continuity and sound.
  11. Wave are talking ****e ... As of 11:00AM today (Monday) around 23,000 tickets have been sold, but the game is NOT SOLD OUT YET, so we are calling all Saints fans to make a trip to St. Mary's the best use of their Bank Holiday Monday! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11624
  12. Just had a text from my daughter who is going with others from her team and there has been quite a big sale today as they struggled to get some together.
  13. No fajitas, chilli and empanadas....we could also pay him out of the new catering menu from our Mexican owner.
  14. They have a box at SMS and have done so for quite a few years. They are a toy manufacturer as others have stated like Power Rangers. A mate of mine used to be quality manager for their UK imported stuff.
  15. You have said exactly what I wanted to far more eloquently than I could ever do. If consortium A are that wishy washy they have bailed out now then they are obviously not right for us. We have years of crap to get over and still more to come as League one will be no pushover so we will need strong leaders not airy fairies who leave at the drop at the sight of handbags at 10 paces.
  16. My mate is the stadium team announcer at Brading. I have watched them a couple of times this year ...decent defence but poor up front. Home pitch suffers from poor drainage but decent catering ;-)
  17. Well you may soon get your wish as if Eastleigh win promotion we will potentially only be 2 leagues apart! Personally I want someone to come and and clear all the debt and make sure we never, ever get in this position again. If that takes being a millionaires play thing for a few years I can live wih it as I have just endured a few years of hell under Lowe, Wilde, Crouch, Hone and Dulieu.
  18. along with Parkinson for their handbags at 10 paces...according to SSN
  19. Thats exactly how I feel, I WAS a shareholder ...only a small one granted. I own 2 ST's, I also pay for my other child to attend on occasions. I regularly buy them kit, programmes, food, drink and at the weekend went into the shop and bought 2 more shirts. I do not want the club to go under but want to know where any money I further donate goes because if its going into the PLC, Administrator, PR guru or accountants fees then I am out.
  20. Dont call me Shirley....... So we may go from Rupert to Rupees....
  21. I wonder if these 2 things are related as posted on the LC on the Radio thread earlier this week. derry derry is offline Full Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 2,675 Default Quote: Originally Posted by Third Division South Days View Post On at 6.30 ready to answer listeners questions Ask him what was Royston Smith Southampton Conservative leader doing, going into SMS with him at 1630, are they putting a deal together to buy SMS. 22. But that to me was why he never did as it was a question of when they buggered it up not if. There was plenty of evidence to say they would of on past history and now proved even further given all the money we have wasted this year. Coaches on gardening leave, mysterious Dutch agent/advisors, some absolutely appaling loans and signings. I know you dont get down to the reserves much but honestly it would take you 10 minutes to see Gasmi, Molyneux, Forecast, Pulis(yep I have seen him play for us) and to some extent Boyle are not up to the CCC. Boyle may prove otherwise long term as he looked Ok when I saw him but he is far too small and lightweight - a bit like Smith.
  23. Would you of trusted Wilde with 2m of your money given what had gone on previously?
  24. Or kept back the Burley compensation to pay for Pearson? That was a massive bonus on something that just came out of the blue. Trouble was the JP for Pearson arguement was never about money but one mans fantasy to have 99% of the squad from his academy set up regardless of whether they were ready or not.
