Magic. If Calvin is still concious after his boozathon this afternoon, we might get him in too. -
:goodman:
-
Some bitter Millwall fan with an axe to grind (says the same about Leeds) with clubs in L1 with a better set up than they have.
-
Appologies. I did not understand your post. I'm saying we need good players, but we just happen to need them in a lot of possitions. I'm not saying that we just need to sign lots of players for the sake of having numbers.
-
As I said, I just don't see a case for singling him out as not putting the effort in. He is no Brett Ormerod, but he put a decent shift in IMO. A couple of decent headers, two disallowed for offside, and if I remember the goal correctly, technically it was his assist (Murty's throw in, Saga and his marker jump for it, Saga just gets the nod and it falls kindly for Pato to stab in.)
-
Think so, must have been in the LC. I remember they had just over 11k in the next round at home to Blackburn. Anyway, attendance threads have signed Henry IMO.
-
I dunno, thought it was kinda implied by your OP. Would I want to swap with Norwich? Can't really answer that, but I'd certainly like to be on 0 instead of minus 9 and 7-1 certainly isn't where they're at. If they win their next 5 games, I don't think there will be too many more people throwing their STs at Gunn. :-s
-
He had a decent header from a standing possition first half, just wide of the left post. He had two efforts disallowed. The first half one was wrongly disallowed IMO, the second half one was offside, although the 'keeper had stopped. Though he worked well with Paterson, even though both had to deal mostly with long hoofs up the field.
-
I think anyone who singles Saga out from todays game is just looking for a reason to moan. He didn't exactly bust a gut, put he put himself about enough and worked well with Paterson. I rate James and Lallana, but neither delivered today in terms of a quality final ball.
-
Thank fook. I was beginning to think nobody got it.
-
Yes, although that's kind of stating the obvious. RE: Saints, nobody is saying we need to sign lots of players. We're saying we need good players, but in a lot of possitions.
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Lallana is not a wide man. Supporting striker or attacking midfielder maybe, but he cuts inside regardless of which flank he plays on.
-
I think the defence is sorted except Perry. Looked solid enough today, but he does badly lack pace and height. Also not to useful defending setpieces. Now we've got Murty organising things, I'd like to see someone (with pace especially) in along side Thomas. If we signed this mystery Speed Gonzales and Jaidi, we'd be sorted at the back IMO.
-
This thread may as well have been entitled "Yellow shirts not necessarily a good thing" Even Burley wouldn't try and pin a 7-1 defeat on "gelling". A lot more to it than signing 'too many' players
-
I think theres a bit more too it than that. Even Burley wouldn't try and put a 7-1 hiding at home down to, "gelling" Anyway, They're still 9 point clear of us and I'd wager they get their act together before we make that up.

Sorry, think you've got the wrong end of the stick. I think Paterson was the better player today (see my my post at the top of page 2 on the reactions thread). I was just pointing out that we were all afraid he wouldn't put any effort in, but today he showed otherwise. Forgot to mention Pato in that post, sorry, but yes he was the better striker overall today. Didn't mention Thomas either, but he was ferkin good too.
-
No, I think he is being serious.
-
First BWP and now this. Perhaps there is such thing as Karma.
-
Lol, I remember seeing him going up for a header, which must have been for the first time ever. Clearly the experience was a shock to the system as he was out-cold on the floor for about 5 minutes afterwards.

I said before the match (Calvin, back me up on this ) 1-1 Saints take the lead through Paterson, but concede sloppily from a set piece. Overall, not a bad start to the campaign, but it does highlight some frailties in the side, namely our woeful lack of depth. When Paterson got a knock he was replaced with ... Gobern, an unproven winger. Thought we lacked width aswell. James and Lallana disappointed me and Wotton just seemed not to have any impact other than a few last ditch tackles second half. Shook hands with MLT as he was walking up the Kingsland towards the Sky cameras at the start of the first half. Davis - 8 Very good game, great pen save again. Maybe should have got back on his line quicker for their goal. Murty - 8 Excellent play and a good leader. Used his intelligence to make up for his love of pies. Thomas - 8 Won a lot in the air. I think my earlier prediction of 3-1 Millwall when we thought he was injured could well have come true with Lancashire. Perry - 7 Reads the game well. Made a couple of great saving tackles. Harding - 8 strong contender for MOTM in my book, but would liked to have seen a little more going forward. Had their right winger in his pocket all afternoon. Should he have gotten to their goal on the left hand post? James - 6 I thought RM was his best possition going into this match, but really didn't impress. Solid enough but didn't provide much down the right. Schneiderlin - 7 Decent game and a decent range of passes. Would have loved one of those two long range efforts to have gone in. Wotton - 5 Tackling not bad, but when it comes to using the ball he looks poor. Always looking for someone 5 yards away from him. Lallana - 6 Some good running at defenders, but no final ball. Didn't do much when he drifted further forwards towards the end either. Paterson - 8 MOTM Well taken goal and seemed to work well with Saga. A good understanding between them and good link up play. Saganowski - 7 I can't see a case for singling him out as lazy. He was nothing to write home about, but he had some good touches and worked well with Pato. Between them they caused Millwall all sorts of trouble in the first half. Looked lost up front on his own when Pato went off. Had two efforts disallowed. One wrongly, the other after the whistle had gone. Subs: Gillett, Gobern and Thomson. None of them had any impact. Thought Gillett should have started, but passing was poor.
-
Fullbacks - Two great aquisitions there. Harding especially was excellent. Morgan - Had more impact on the game today than any I've seen from him last year. Saga - Looked half decent today and anyone singling him out as lazy is just looking for reasons to hate him. Super Kel - Saving penalties again
-
Haven't bought an ST, but flew down from Scottland to watch tomorrow's match. Wouldn't have done that under Lowe.
