Sorry, er... we're talking about Lee Holmes yeah? :-s Thinking back to recent high profile signings (Schneiderlin, Saga, Skacel, BWP, Phillips) they've all suffered from their own hype. Not their fault admittedly, but I think people tend to get on their backs quicker when they don't reach expectations, even if they have done a reasonable enough job. I just hope we show Lambert a bit more patience.
-
Assuming everyone stays and the poles want to be here. Lambert and Saga IMO, with Paterson coming off the bench. 4 fantastic options though though, it was quite hard to chose. Poll to follow.

I'm not saying you can turn everyone into Ronaldo with a bit of coaching. We all know Wotton is a lost cause when it comes to skill on the ball. I just don't see Lallana as unique. I guess we just value different things. If I had to list our best creative players in recent years, I'd say Bale, Belmadi, Skacel and Surman. Why, because they could all make a telling pass or cross into the strikers and they set up a lot of goals. It has been no coincidence IMO that as those players have left, been moved out of possition or lost form, our performances have declined. I'd take any of those players (as they were 3 years ago) in midfield ahead of Lallana.

I'm patient. I think he has got tallent and I wont be jumping on his back any time soon. However having tallent and making a telling contribution are two completely seperate entities IMO. I remember watching Jones in our first season in the CCC and he couldn't trap a bag of cement. When we played Derby at home that season it was perhaps the worst individual performance I've ever seen from a Saints player, who wasn't called Darren Powell. Whilst the ball is hardly glued to his feet these days, he has developed his ball control enough to make a decent career in the Premiership. There is no reason why you can't coach a decent first touch. It's just balance, co-ordination and timing after all. It will come with practice.

Just not enough to spell his name right.
-
He used to be a pirate but now he's f**king great Ricky Lambert er... maybe not.
-
After the mistake that lead to the penalty and eventually the goal, it looked like his confidence was shot. Right decision IMO.
-
Pele is available on a free. Would be an excellent partner for Morgan or Gillett IMO.

Nope, just need a bit of healthy food after that Toblerone. And what kind of snakes eat radish? :-?
-
Pretty handy if you're a Jack-o-lantern TBF.
-
What on Earth makes you think that? :-s
-
Unrealistic to the point of not being Saints related.
-
Tell that to Kenwyne Jones or James Beattie. FWIW it's obvious too all that Lallana has the skills. Like Schneiderlin however its a case of getting him to deliver in a competitive environment. Something he hasn't done for quite a while if I'm honnest.

He's gone FFS! Can't people please just let it drop.

Good game all, even if Matt kept wasting my fantastic set up play. -
Easy. Took me 2 goes.

Trod on a broken wine glass once in a pool in Phoenix. By some miracle it didn't break the skin and I gave the glass I could find to the maintenance guy. Turns out there must have been more though because when I came back the next say there was a sign saying, 'pool closed, broken glass and blood in water' Anyway, tag along Rob, you can be a goalie/cheerleader. -
It's not irrelevant though. Anyone with half a brain realises that Liebherr is nothing at all to do with Lowe. John is just using this as an excuse. I'm not particularly bothered that he is gone, but I'm just not under the illusion that we owe John something.

Sorry, just realised I had the title wrong. It's 5pm until 6:30pm -
Certainly the only midfielder who made any possitive impact on the game. Looked like a fish up a tree last season, let's hope a few quality players around him this year will take the pressure off.
-
Sorry, but the fact that it was Lowe is completely relevant. You say he was treated like sh*t by SFC. Then what is SFC? To me it would be the stadium, the fans, the training facilities, the city, the players, the coaches, the manager, the and the boardroom. I think it's fairly safe to assume the stadium and training facilities haven't offended him and I don't think any players (Tin Man aside) have had an issue with Southampton as a city. The fans were always supportive and the coaches just do their job on the training ground. That leaves the manager and the board, both of which are gone now so he has no reason to hate SFC. If he does have beef with Saints, he's a f**kin' idiot and he'd do well to read that paragraph. RE: His reasons for leaving, read this interview: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5474516,00.html More specifically: "I told them I wanted to stay but they never sorted out a deal properly" Now, he knew when he came back to Saints we were in a precarious financial possition with the takeover. We offered him a contract as soon as we could and he comes out with that bullsh*t. He claimed he was keen to stay, but clearly we were just a fallback option incase he couldn't get a move to the CCC. I have no problem with players wanting to play in a higher League. It's the coming back and lying, wasting everyone's time. Time which could have been spent trying to sign another striker, so we would've had a replacement for Pato yesterday.

It's a typo, it should read "an 'orse"
-
No, the Lowe regime, which now has absolutely no connection to SFC (and I'm still not tired of saying that ) treated him like dirt. Stern John used Saints staff and facilities to get fit whilst he found a new club, under the pretence that he was after a new contract here. One he clearly had no intention of signing. Having said that, I don't wish a broken arm on him.
