Coventry V Saints - Pre Match Views and Predictions
Arizona replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Anyone got a dodgy online TV link? Love waching the WBA game last season with Japanese commentary. Oooooh!!! Saganowsaki!! -
Who would you play instead?
-
And whilst the rest if Pompey are out dancing in the streets, you are on a Saints message board at 12:30am.

I haven't changed from my forecast pre-season. There are 3 or 4 very poor sides in this league, who we should be able to outperform over the course of a season, however it is going to be a struggle to avoid the drop. It's amazing what wins against Donny and Norwich can do for people's expectations, but to be saying we are playoff candidates is optimistic to say the least.

In principle that isn't a bad idea, although Coventry away is likely to prove a much sterner test than Norwich at home, so we should go for the strongest team possible. If we were going for the same team that finished, we should leave out BWP too. Wishful thinking - He is being saved for the Coventry game Likely Scenario - JP and MW have been told he can't play due to financial reasons, so they aren't bothering to play him at all.

I personally would play: - - - - - - - - Davis - - - - - - - Gillett - Perry - Lancashire - Mills - - - - Wotton - - - Cork - - - - - Lallana - - Surman - - Skacel - - - - - - - Robertson - - - - - -

Must be a slow news day if that is wrothy of a story: 'Student fantacises about ugly bint.' Mind you, if he is going to find her anywhere, it's Portsmouth.

Kelvin Davis- are saints fans the most fickle in the league?
Arizona replied to shurlock's topic in The Saints
Are you being facetious or do you actually beleive that? I don't read other club message boards, but I would think that fans of ALL clubs are like us to an extent. Anyone remember the Chelsea fans singing Mourniho's name last season after Avram Grant lost a couple of games, then he took them to the Champs League final? Then there were the Leeds fans who turned on Blackwell after a poor start to the season, just a few months after he had taken them to the playoff final on a limited budget. And don't even get me started on the barcodes... We are no better or worse than most other fans in Britain IMO. We've just had more ups and downs in the last few seasons than most. -
I can't comment on his performance at Derby as I didn't see it. I do not doubt he played well, but by all accounts Derby were very poor and it perhaps wasn't that difficult to look good against them. The real test IMO was Blackpool when they put up a decent fight and the team wasn't playing well. Yes everyone played badly, but to me James and White stood out as being particularly poor. In a nutshell, they just didn't look ready. James made mistakes, rash challenges and was poor positionally. White looked like a fish up a tree. DMG, I was refering more to a couple of seasons ago when he couldn't stop scoring for the reserves, but couldn't assert himself on the first team. He has only scored one goal from open play in CCC, at Cardiff. He looks ok compared to our other options at the moment, but the likes of Rasiak, Jones, John and Saga were a class above for us in the past.

Completely agree. Criticising a player when they are poor and praising him when he plays well isn't fickle at all. The same as if Davis has a poor game on Saturday, I will say Davis was poor today. That doesn't make me fickle either, that's just pointing out what happens. Booing him if he made a howler at Coventry, THAT would be fickle. I also don't agree with nickh's theory thathe has been good all along, but we are only just figuring out that Bart is poor. In our playoff season, Davis was poor overall. Made some terrible errors, not to mention poor positioning and decision making when it came to collecting crosses and through balls. Bart was very good when given chance that season. I think it is a shame many on here seem to be writing him off after a couple of dodgy appearances, one over a year ago against Palace and one against Rotherham. -
Let's not get carried away again after 2 wins on the bounce. We do not have a strong CCC team, not by a long way. Selling the likes of Lallana and replacing them with our reserves is only going to make them weaker. Don't forget the likes of White, DMG, James and a few others have all looked good in the reserves at some point, but shown not to be ready for the first team. There is a huge difference between playing in front of one man and his dog (woof!) against Millwall reserves, and playing in front of 15,000 people in a competitive match.

RIP Bob. Dying, or having someone close to me die of a terminal disease is one of the things I dread most in life. Condolences to all concerned.

4 bites on that one Scoob. Good effort. Have a Scooby snack. Anyway, great news IMO. Surman may have suffered a loss of... everything... after his U-21 call up, but there is no reason what so ever for the same to happen here. I'm also surprised as I thought Lallana had already played for the Taffy U-21s at some point. Imagine an England U-21 line-up featuring Surman, Lallana, Blackstock, Cranie, M. Mills and (unlikely these days) Walcott. Just goes to show that timing is everything with these kids. Throw them in too early and they and the team suffer. Throw them in late and they get p*ssed off and leave.

Got to be the weirdest match thread I can remember in a long time. Saints winning and endless obsession with bakery products. P.S. Saga 0-3 Man Utd
-
Are you talking about some kind of sex toy?
-
And it has been since the 4th minute.
-
The Skate is sent off. Happy days. Actually his 4th, 2 of which were against Exeter.
-
Saga 0-2 Man Utd

I think it comes from the Barnsley thread a few weeks ago, which was so boring people started discussing doughnut flavours. Then during the Donny match people started discussing muffins and we went 2-0 up.
-
Get behind the muffins FFS!
-
Time to celebrate!!!

Goal?

I'd like to see two banks of five for our next away match. It doesn't offer much going forward, but it's difficult to break down and we could do with just picking up the draws on our travels...
