  1. Saga 0-1 Man Utd
  2. BATE (no me neither) 1-0 Juventus
  3. Injured. And if the muffins stop working, we're going on to pancakes next.
  4. That's sort of my point. If Jan rates a kid, he will play him, even if at the time it doesn't seem the sensible choice, such as playing Cork and Lancashire together on a tough away day in favour of Perry. I am not trying to debate whether Jan is right or wrong in this instance, more trying to give some reasoning to his decision.
  5. Common sense would dictate so, but common sense has long since been locked up in the SMS dungeon along with Shergar and Youssef Safri. JP clearly rates Robertson or he wouldn't have brought him in. We know he likes youth players and will (often blindly) stick them in the team ahead of far better senior players (White, Paterson and DMG in ahead of 19 goal a season Stern John, giving young Mr Lancashire his debut ahead of Perry at QPR etc.)
  6. Having left him out for so long, I'd imagine Jan is unwilling to stick him straight in the starting line-up.
  7. Team Davis James Perry Lancashire Mills DMG Lallana Cork Surman Robertson Pekhart Subs: Forecast White Skacel BWP Paterson
  8. The new W00T!! ... Skacel on the bench, it's a start. Come on and score the winner Rudi!!!!!!!!
  9. Imagine if he scored against Manure tonight and we start with David McGoldrick up front...
  10. 2-1 to Norwich.
  11. Edit: a right, got you now. Proof that you need to spend money to make money. You can't deliver a vastly inferior product for the same price in any business, and still expect to have the same number of customers. I can't see why we'd need to sell to stay afloat in January. We must have one of the lowest wage bills in CCC and c15,000 is a healthy enough attendance in this league. Makes you wonder where the money's going (and don't say stadium and accademy)
  12. I have to say Nick, I am surprised and disappointed. I always thought you were above such remarks. No, that survey was only about women. If you see 1 little old man standing at the bus stop, at least one of them tugs his long-John.
  13. I'd have said Oakley. Many people ridiculed him on here after he left, saying he had only ever had about 10 good games for us etc. Then he went to Derby, captained them to promotion and looked one of their better players in the Prem. No coincidence that things began to go down hill after he got injured in 2003. Can't really call Niemi "unsung" when he won player of the year in 03/04.
  14. Davis Cork - Lancashire - Perry - Mills Lallana - Surman - Wotton - Skacel Pekhart - John
  15. Not strictly true. 25% of grannies ADMIT to flicking their bean. The potential of the actual figure doesn't bare thinking about. Next time you walk past a bus stop and there are 4 little old ladies... at least one of them... uuuughhh.
  16. Anyone know the best way from the station to the Ricoh? Looks like a bit of a trek on on Google Earth, has anyone tried it? Guessing there are busses, any idea how often? Thanks in advance.
  17. I don't get the obsession with the Plymouth game. Yes he was in charge on the basis that he was stood on the touch line, however it is unfair to hold the result against him as he didn't pick the team and had barely met most of the squad. I have replied to the Coventry point for him. There is no reason to think either Hammill or Surman would have improved us in that game, and we certainly didn't want to lose it. Sticking another player up front doesn't nescessarily bring goals, often quite the opposite. Whenever we've tried it in the past (away to Colchester and Southend in 06/07 for eg.) we have just ended up overrun in midfield, with Davis hoofing it at Rasiak and not scoring. On top of that one of those teams, think it was Southend, got a late goal soon after we had changed formation. As it happens, I think Pearson made a reasonable enough fist of that game. He made 3 attacking substitutions, replacing players who had performed poorly. Compared with Burley who once went 3-0 down at home to Watford, then sat there watching for half an hour before sending Hammill on in the 88th minute.
  18. A barrel of oil this morning cost $103.60, which is considerably less than it was a few months ago. Whilst I am sure prices will rise over the coming years as oil supplies dry up, there are alternatives. The A380 is the first airliner capable of running from GTL (gas to liquid fuels) The gas can be produced by the algae as someone refered to above. The Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 will both be capable of running off such fuels when they enter service and, together with the A380, they use 15-20% less than the current aircraft of equivalent size. Even current aircraft are more efficient than a train, even on short regional routes such as Brummy and Manchester. People aren't going to want to go beyond that, to places like Edinburgh and Glasgow, if they have to sit on a train for 7 hours, which will cost more anyway. In short, the plan to scrap the runway is completely unsustainable. There is no way on Earth cutting a few commuter routes accross Southern England is going to make a difference to traffic at LHR. There needs to be at least one more runway in central London in the next decade or so. Whether that is at Heathrow, Biggin Hill or somewhere else remains to be seen.
  19. Raikkonen has shown regularly in the past that he is a top driver, but in the second half of this season, he just looks lost. Massa you can't really blame for Sutil's crash. He span and hit the barrier, which I'm fairly sure was unintentional, then as he was moving away Sutil came round the bend unsighted and crashed trying to avoid him. Nothing malicious in it. Also I should point out that yesterdays race was only really interesting because of the safety car. If it weren't for that, Hamilton would probably have just followed Massa home for 2nd place, with Kimi probably not crashing in 3rd. A wet street race absolutely. You only have to watch this years Monaco GP, or better still the 1997 race when Barrichello came 2nd in a Stewart. They should stick the Malaysian GP, not a street circuit, back in the monsoon season. That always made for a great race.
  20. Pearson didn't pick the team though. It even said on the OS, the team had already been selected by Dodd and Gorman, but Pearson was nominally in charge. The Coventry game was disapponting, but it would have made things a lot worse had we lost it and it is far from certain Surman and Hammill would have changed the game in our favour. Surman was suffering a dreadful loss in form, I saw him a couple of weeks previously at Scunny and he couldn't pass or cross to save his life. Hammill wasn't able to play anyway as he was busy in the concourse finishing off the uneaten pies from half-time.
  21. Surely the possition of the penalty taker is irrelevant? The reason we don't have a striker capable of doing the job is because we've loaned them out. John's effort in our upcoming fixture last season was abysmal and I wouldn't trust BWP is incapable of scoring penalties as they are, essentially, a 1 on 1. DMG lacks experience and composure. Pekhart and Lallana are also a bit young IMO. That's pretty much it. Personally I'd have Skacel take them when he's in the team and Wotton until then.
  22. Wow, what a race. A few thoughts. 1. Lolage at the irony. Alonso went from nowhere to winning because Piquet put it in the wall. 2. How did Ferrari get a drive through for such a dangerous incident, yet Hamilton gets a 25s penalty for cutting the chicane to avoid a collision? 3. Great to see DC in the points. Maybe he'd have got more if he had any brakes. 4. WTF is happening with Kimi? 5. Congrats to Fernando and Rosberg.
  23. I look forward to Ferrari getting severely punished for that incident, like they were after the Valencia GP... oh yeah. Not only could several mechanics have been severely injured, not to mention the possibility of fuel spilling everywhere, but Massa was released into the path of an oncoming Force India. Come on DC!!! If he can keep it together, there are some decent points on the cards. He wont keep Hamilton behind after the stops, but 4th is a possibilty.
  24. I've heard he's going Up Pompey. Ah, it nearly works...
  25. Yep. It was between them and Leeds to go down IIRC. On something like the 3rd to last game of the season we beat Leeds at home in the last minute, whilst Hull got a last minute equaliser. When it was read out on the PA, the Leeds fans got quite upset. :D
