LEAVE MLG ALONE!!!! -
Had the same thought when I saw that earlier, would be a good #2 for Fraser but i'm not sure if he'd be willing to play second fiddle at another club. Would probably want to be first choice.

One of the best players we've ever had, and one that fully deserves his move. Hope he goes on to do great things, which i'm sure he will! -

What a journey Morgan's been on with us, I wish him all the best for the future. One of the most talented players to wear the shirt. -
From what i've seen of him he's the key cog in Feyenoord's midfield, same as Schneiderlin is for us. He has a different set of attributes to Morgan but he is undoubtedly a quality player and I think he could flourish here. As for where he'd fit into our team, that's a slightly different matter. His lack of physicality is one downside but tbh he doesn't need to be 6'5" and built like a sh!thouse to perform well in his role. A compromise might be to change our style and formation slightly to fit in with this. On the last day against Man City we switched to almost a 4-1-4-1 formation when JWP came on which worked pretty well and nearly allowed us to snatch a result at the Etihad. I could see him fitting into that kind of formation as it would allow him more protection: -------------STEKELENBURG------------ CEDRIC----FONTE----NEW CB----B'RAND --------------WANYAMA--------------- JAYROD---CLASIE----PROWSEY---MANE ----------------PELLE----------------- I quite like that formation because it can give us the solidity of a flat 4 in midfield (with an anchor man behind) for when we're under siege, but also the fluidity to become a 4-3-3 when on the attack as the wingers push up to support the striker. Thoughts?

IIRC his contract was up at the end of the season he was with us so the rumour was we would chuck Reading a couple of hundred grand not to extend it and to let us enter into talks with him before his deal was up - they rejected that, he signed a new deal and they held the balance of power hence the large asking price which we refused to pay.

We're always going to concede goals against the level of opposition that we've been playing considering we've mostly been using U21 players at the back in these past few games. Judge us in the Gronigen/Feyenoord games when we'll be at full strength (minus Bertrand).

Did. As in, did I not make that clear already? (Apologies if not, long day!)

Everyone knew that the Tories would be making cuts, you'd have to be a real cretin to think otherwise! My issue is that they were deliberately disingenuous and misled people by denying reports of proposed cuts (which have now been made) and also refusing to state exactly what they planned to cut which essentially gave them a mandate to do whatever the f*ck they want with the budget because they'd not run on a specific platform of cuts. Like I say, I find that incredibly disingenuous.

There is potentially some bias, but a YouGov poll shows a similar level of distortion between perception and reality on tax distribution as well: https://yougov.co.uk/news/2014/11/09/public-attitudes-tax-distribution/

Quite f*cking clearly! Did you bother to read my post or is this just "Sour Mash stock reply #44"?

Just going to recycle VFTT's link from higher up this page... https://twitter.com/twcuddleston/status/619084622144634880/video/1 Not particularly clear is it? Obviously we all knew that the Tories would implement huge cuts to welfare if they were elected but I don't think people necessarily know all the facts. I don't want to go on another rant against the media because it's a bit of a tired routine by now but The Mail, Sun et al have certainly lubed the welfare state up for a good f*cking by the Tory rod. There's been a long-running narrative in certain areas of the press which demonises those on welfare (i.e. some of the most vulnerable people in our society) which re-inforces this image of a 'something for nothing' culture. I'm a bleeding heart liberal, but even I don't want to see people who are perfectly capable of working sitting at home on their ar5es claiming benefits when they could quite clearly be contributing - talk about that kind of scenario enough and it changes the perception of welfare itself. This graphic on public perception of welfare spending goes some way towards illustrating that: If the Tories had actually run on a clear platform of the welfare cuts they were planning on implementing, I would have less resentment and a bit more respect for them. As it is, they've flat out denied that they would be cutting certain things (as shown in the link above) and although they were up front with the quantity of welfare cuts they were planning, it was a deceitful tactic to deliberately hide the actual measures from the public. Had they been more transparent with this, i'm sure they would've garnered less votes.

Yeah, so all the 30,000,000 people who didn't vote Tory just stfu!

What, politicians deliberately deceiving the electorate? Well I never...

Part of the reason we've got such a high net migration at the moment is because of the poor state of the Eurozone - there's little competition for jobs elsewhere in the EU so we're seeing more come here to work. As the situation improves (hopefully) over the next few years, we should see those levels come down. We do still have to factor in that we have a pretty high birth/death ratio (12:9) regardless of migration so our population is expanding whether we like it or not. To fail to prepare is to prepare to fail...

George 'Submarine' Osborne? No chance he'll be PM. It'll be Boris or Theresa May for leader next. As for being on top of his brief, he's failed to deliver on pretty much every key point that was set out in 2010. The deficit was meant to be paid down now, it's not even been halved. National debt is higher than it's ever been and he borrowed more in the last 5 years than Labour did in the previous 13 while massively slashing public spending. Not a resounding success in my book, although alarmingly there are worse candidates for his job out there.

From what i've seen of him, McCarthy looks far more comfortable at CB than RB. Seems a better build for a CB as well.

End of the day, Toby's gone to Spurs and we have to move on. I'm looking forward to seeing who we bring in to replace him, and have faith in our scouting system to find somebody. We've bought in 2 quality CBs the past 2 seasons and i'm certain we can do it again. As for the Spurs fans that feel the need to come on here to rub it in - it must be nice to finally be able to put one over on somebody, what with living in Arsenal's shadow for most of your history and all.
